In spring and summer, uncles, aunts, uncles and aunties who often find rivers or reservoirs to release animals are brainwashed by secular Buddhism into thinking that releasing fish, turtles, etc. will bring blessings, and there will be good rewards in this world or in the next life. Taoism believes that you should worship various gods. When Buddhism was first introduced to our country, the local Taoism had many fierce confrontations with Buddhism (actually discussing Taoism). Later, Buddhism and Taoism both learned from and absorbed many ideas.

Take Journey to the West as an example. Journey to the West is more like a Taoist novel than a Buddhist novel. Although Tang Monk and his party did go to the West to obtain Buddhist scriptures, they encountered mostly Taoist monsters and gods on the way. And the Monkey King at the beginning is also about stones absorbing the aura of heaven and earth (Taoist stuff). The later chapters of seeking Taoism, becoming an immortal, and making trouble in the heavenly palace are all Taoist content.
