. Go to Taihang , pass Wutai, Kuiji came to Xihe one day and stayed in an ancient temple. At night, I dreamed that I was in a trance in the mountains, dark everywhere, and I vaguely heard countless people shouting in pain under the cliff, feeling sad. 在有有 couldn't bear to hear such a miserable voice, so he rushed to climb up. When I arrived at the top of the mountain, I found that the mountain peaks were as crystal clear as glass. Looking into the distance, many countries were as clear as dust. Suddenly a voice floated down from above his head: "Stop, Kuiji shouldn't have been here." Kuiji looked up and saw a dazzling city. After a while, the two fairy boys walked out of the city and asked, "Did you see the creatures at the foot of the mountain that have suffered from the suffering of the world?" Kuiji replied, "Although I heard the screams shrill, I can't see the exact shape." The fairy boy threw a sword and said, "You can see it when you cut open your stomach." "Where can your life be left to me when you cut open your stomach? Master Xuanzang is still passed on." "I have to be obsessed with the illusion, and he actually wants to pass on the Dharma. The three ches's saying makes some sense." Kuiji was both annoyed and shocked, and inserted the sword into his abdomen. At this time, two white lights jumped out of their belly like rainbows, shining under the mountain. They saw countless people sinking into the abyss, suffering from torture, and struggling in despair. At this time, the fairy boy threw down two scrolls of paper and a pen, turned around and entered the city. Kuiji caught it, looked up and saw that the city was gone. When I woke up at dawn, I was still in shock.
At night, the temple emitted a thousand feet of light, but it didn't dissipate for a long time. I peeked through the light and found that it was two scrolls of books that were glowing. When I opened it, I found that it was the "Maitreya Sutra". Associated I dreamed last night. It was Maitreya Bodhisattva that made me create Shu Hongtong. So I picked up the pen, but saw that a few relics fell off the end of the pen, which was as big as a peach, red, and then a few relics fell off, like yellow millet. Kuji suddenly realized: It turned out that it was the Buddha who influenced me, let me understand the principles of Buddhism, and use great compassion to help suffering sentient beings. I thought that I had made a vow to integrate Buddhist principles and was worried that meditating and translating scriptures would lose the essence of Buddhism and only obtain the appearance of Buddhism. It was just like dreaming of the solemn Dharma at night, but I woke up in the morning and went to look for my own horse. How confused I am. I am observing the scriptures is to save the world, not to show off my talents! But I went to find a white horse.
After Kuiji's understanding, he has made great progress in Buddhism since then. After returning to Ci'en Temple, he wrote more diligently, clearing out hundreds of books on the Hinayana teachings of , and was known as "the master of a hundred books."
" Consciousness-Only " translated by Xuanzang was initially treated with Shen Fang, Jia Shang and Pu Guang, either polishing, writing, reviewing texts, or compiling meanings. A few years later, Kuiji proposed to withdraw from this translation. Xuanzang asked the reason, and he said, "Everyone can work together in translation. Although he can get the dregs of the Dharma, he has lost the purity of the mysterious source. I don't like to do this mixed work. If it is completed independently, one can express one's own ideas, and the other is responsible, one will bear it." Xuanzang then agreed with his request and asked the other three people to withdraw from this translation and hand it over to Kuiji to complete it independently. This is a teaching of responsibilities based on the quality of the people. During that period, Kuiji followed Xuanzang and recorded what he heard. Xuanzang often explained to him alone the study of consciousness-only .
At that time, there was a Yuanchao master in Ximingsi , who was also an extremely intelligent person. He once sent someone to secretly eavesdrop on the knowledge of consciousness-only taught by Xuanzang to Kuiji alone, and then colluded to interpret it himself. Xuanzang had just finished explaining for Kuiji, and round test also gathered the bells in Ximing Temple to explain the "Consciousness-Only" . After Kuiji learned about this, he was ashamed that he was behind him and was very sad. Xuanzang encouraged him and said, "Although the Yuanjing has created absurdity and is well-versed in the study of consciousness-only, he does not understand the theory of cause and enlightenment." So he explained the theory of Chenna for the Kuiji. Kuji was proficient in Chen Na's new theory of "Three-Level Practice" and other new theory of the Ming Dynasty, and was able to break the truth and destiny, and no one could compete with him for the time being.
In addition, there is another saying, "Xuanzang explained " Yoga Theory of the Land of the Sage of the Land of Kuiji", and was sent by Yuanzhang to eavesdrop on it first. Xuanzang said to Kuiji, "Although he knows " Yoga Theory of the Land of the Sage of the Land of the Sage", "I will only teach you the "five kinds of nature theory" and only you can understand it, but others will not do it."
There is another saying, "When Kuiji went to Taiyuan to preach the Dharma, there were three cars following him, riding the sutras and treatises in front, riding the trunk by himself, and carrying the prostitutes, maids, food, etc. in the back. On the way, I met an old father and asked him who was riding in the car. Kuiji replied, "It's family." The old father said, "You are very proficient in Buddhism, but you carry your family, and you may not be consistent with Buddhism!" After hearing this, Kuiji suddenly regretted the past and went there alone. It is said that this old father is the incarnation of Manjushri Bodhisattva . These are all legends from the outside world. When Kuiji followed Xuanzang to translate the classics in Yuhua Palace , if there were three cars, where would he be placed?
Kuiji spread the Dharma everywhere and benefited him. When he traveled east to Boling, someone asked him to explain the Lotus Sutra, so he wrote the Lotus Sutra Commentary. After he returned to this temple, he often traveled with fellow Taoists who had been engaged in translation together and met with lawyers Daoxuan many times. In the first year of Yongchun (682 AD), he suffered from illness. On November 13, he entered the silence of the Ci'en Temple in Chang'an. He lived for fifty-one years, and was not found in Fala . Burial was in the north canal of Fancun, near Xuanzang's tomb. The disciples mourned, the funeral was grand, and the mourning people from the two realms of monks and lay people were everywhere.
Kuji made unremitting efforts during his lifetime and created the Maitreya statue, reciting the "Bodhisattva Precepts" every day to the statue, indicating that he wishes to be reborn in the inner courtyard of Tushita. Jade Manjushri Bodhisattva statue is also made in Mount Wutai . Write the golden characters "Prajna Sutra". His disciples respected him very much and regarded him as Master Xuanzang. In July of the fourth year of Yamato (830 AD), the tower was moved to the plain. Da'anguo TempleSammen Ling Jianjian pavilion. When he moved the coffin, he saw more than 40 base teeth as jade. Buddhist community often called Kuiji "the master of the hundred tribes". But he is a man with a strong appearance and a strong spirit, but a kind heart and tireless teaching. As for the name of Kuiji, the records of each book are different. " Biography of Ci'en " states: "Master Xuanzang finally translated " Great Prajna Sutra " in Yuhua Palace in the third year of Longshuo (663 AD). On November 22 of that year, Mahayana Ji ordered him to report and asked the emperor to make a preface." Here it is called " Lingji "; and "Kaiyuan Buddhist Book" is also called "Kuiji", or " Mahayana "... Today, the monks and lay people in China are mostly called " Master Ci'en ".
One day in the first year of Yongchun (682 AD), Kuiji entered into meditation as usual. His friend Lawyer Xuan knew that he met the messenger of the Buddhist king in God, but this time it took a long time. Lawyer Xuan felt strange. Kuiji said, "The Mahayana Bodhisattva came just now, and there were many servants. My supernatural powers were suppressed." Not long after, Kuiji passed away. His tomb is close to Xuanzang's bone tower. The disciples were deeply saddened and missed this kind-hearted and tireless master.
