Recently, I read " Platform Sutra " again, and a question is always lingering in my mind: What exactly is there in our "self-nature" or nature?
The Sixth Patriarch said, "There is no distinction between the north and the south." In front of the Buddha nature, sentient beings are equal and there is no distinction. In our self-nature or Buddha nature, everything is harmonious, without binary opposition , the concept of binary is just a artificial subjective thing, not a natural reality.
Buddha nature, also known as emptiness, self-nature, etc. Self-nature is also other nature, both individuality and common nature. Self-nature is not only the nature of an individual, but also the nature of all things and sentient beings.
This self-nature is the nature of all things in the world and sentient beings. All appearances are inseparable from nature. The appearance is the manifestation of nature. All phenomena are images presented by nature or essence. Images or appearances are all changing and impermanent.
The image you see is just the image of the present or the present. You cannot see the reality of the past and the uncertainty of the future. We can only live in the present, and it is best to live in the present.
Nature is the common nature of the world and all things, with universality and formlessness; it also has transcendent nature, appearance has birth and death, nature has no birth and death, appearance is impermanent and selfless, nature is the true and eternal self.
When the Sixth Patriarch fully realized, he sighed, " How can I expect my own nature to be pure; How can I expect my own nature to be without birth and death; How can I expect my own nature to be complete; How can I expect my own nature to be able to produce all things? "
self-nature, invisible and invisible, not attached to one aspect, not dwelling on one aspect, not welcome it when it comes, not send it when it goes, not send it when it goes, not self-nature or hide it. The wind blows by, and the rain falls by, and the nature is not moved at all. It is still as quiet as before. This is probably purity.
has birth and death, but the nature has no birth and death. Nature, the void is invisible, neither big nor small, no beginning or end, no birth or death, all changes in phenomena or appearance are contained in "nature". Sexuality, independence and unchanging.
is free from the nature of the phase, that is, transcend everything, not being confused about each other, not being trapped by each other. Nature contains all appearances, everything tolerate and everything to be. It is a natural treasure, everything is available, inexhaustible and inexhaustible. Once you see the nature, all things in the world are with you. Although the appearances are different, the natures are connected. Seeing the nature means seeing everything. You can control all things by holding on to one thing. This is probably "originally complete."
All appearances or phenomena, tangible, intangible, material, and spiritual, are manifestations of nature, which is called "can produce all things." All changes will not be separated from the sect. This sect is nature, that is, emptiness, self-nature, and Buddha nature.
Achieve emptiness, understand the mind and see the nature, and you can see the essence at a glance, understand the origin and the end, and the evolution of all things, and ultimately, they will never be separated from their nature. If you see the nature, you will not be bound by the appearance, and you will not be undecided by the joys and sorrows of the "things".
"There is nothing, where can dust be caused?" All phenomena are the combination of causes and conditions, and they are all false appearances. How can worldly dust blind the mind of light? Seeing appearance means seeing nature, seeing form means seeing emptiness, seeing appearance, being indifferent, appearance means being indifferent, form and emptiness are not different, how can you be confused by impermanent appearance, and how can you be ignorant and do not know where to end?
All sentient beings have wisdom and virtues. The inner wisdom is to see the nature, to see the heart and to things outside. The mind and things are both impermanent. The appearance is inseparable. If you see the appearance, you can see the nature, and to understand the mind and to understand the nature.
Troubles are Bodhi. Troubles are also appearances, impermanent appearances, and you should not be attached to them. Only "nature" is the true and everlasting self. Of course, if the troubles have been exhausted, Bodhi should be let go, be confused by the "nature", which is also attachment, and also attachment to appearances. Both appearances are impermanent, so how can you not let go of it?
Seeing the nature does not mean that you don’t have to “appearance”. Reality cannot be separated from "appearance". Isn't practice the obsession of practice? When practicing in the world, you must also "image" to see the nature.
Eliminate all evil and cultivate all good; eliminate three poisons and eight sufferings, and diligently practice the three studies and six paramitas. These are all skills to see the difference between different aspects, and finally there will be a day when the clouds are cleared and the sun will be dark.
