I will only talk about the conclusion: Buddha saves sentient beings, and the sufferings outside believers must be saved by personal refuge. If you do not save yourself or take refuge, the problem of relieving difficulties will be no longer under the Buddha's duties.
Duowen Tianwang
It seems that religion is the same as the country, tribe, and group. It only solves internal problems, and other "people who are outside" ignore the examples. The four kings in folklore manage the world with good weather, obviously they control too much and too broadly. It is probably also a one-conscientious plan for the kind people.
is like Guanyin Bodhisattva is originally a male body, but the Chinese people feel so compassionate. The great love is like a god like a spring breeze and rain, and the Chinese Guanyin becomes a female appearance. This legend has further developed, saying that Guanyin has hundreds of appearances, and it does not show its true face to others. So a folk legend finally came to an end.
The four heavenly kings also remind me of the four heavenly kings of the Shang Dynasty in " Investiture of Gods ", Demon Liqing , Demon Lihong, Demon Lihai , and Demon Lishou four brothers. After their death, they were awarded the title of God by Jiang Ziya, and they were the King of the Kingdom of the Kingdom, the King of Growth, the King of Guangmu and the King of Duowen.
At this point, Buddhist Dharma Protector Vajra, folk legends and novels of Romance are all natural! This Vajra is not an outsider, and the people feel more intimate because they are familiar with each other; the missionaries are satisfied with the increase in believers, and the government is relieved that Vajra Venerables has included in the local god series.
This is the huge integrated energy of Chinese folk culture! It integrates the Buddhist culture , which is born in a foreign land, into the local area, into Mahayana Buddhism, and in its evolution, it collides with Confucian and Taoist cultures to create a more Chinese ideological core.
