Sitting in the pavilion is an old monk who is nearly eighty years old. He is very eye-catching in his cassock.
The eighty-year-old old monk saw a young monk of eighteen or nineteen years old in front of him and felt that this person was very different.
asked: Little monk, we don’t have someone like you in our temple, right?
The little monk transformed into Buddha said: Yes, Master, I traveled to other places and came here to rest.
The old monk nodded and thought to himself: This little monk seems to have good intelligence. Should I take him in? I have to test him.
Thinking of this, the old monk smiled slightly and asked: "Little monk, do you understand Buddhism?"
The little monk replied: I understand a little bit.
Okay, old monk, can I test your mother?
The little monk replied: Yes, master, please give me some advice.
Seeing that the young monk was so cooperative, the old monk asked: "Little monk, I have been enlightened for so many years, but I still don't know what Buddha is. Can you tell me some of your opinions?"
After hearing this, the young monk said: Master, what do you think is Buddha?
The old monk said: Okay, little monk, let me talk about it first. I think seeing one’s nature is a Buddha, but I have long been considered by the world to be a living Buddha seeing one’s nature. But I always feel that there is something missing from this answer.
The little monk replied and asked: Master, what do you think is wrong?
The old monk replied: I think seeing nature is the cause of Buddhahood, and becoming a Buddha is the fruit of Buddhahood. I only found the cause of becoming a Buddha, but I have not yet become a Buddha.
After hearing this, the young monk thought in his heart: This enlightened master is now a step away from becoming a Buddha. It seems that I need to show up in my true body to enlighten him. Otherwise, how can I be convinced?
Thinking of this, the little monk suddenly transformed. Suddenly, golden light shone, and thousands of miles of auspicious clouds filled the sky.
But the Buddha used a blind method so that only two people could see it. People outside were still burning incense and worshiping the Buddha.
When the eminent monk saw that the Buddha had appeared, he immediately knelt down and said: Buddha, Buddha, you are the Buddha. I have waited for so long, have you finally come? Is it finally here?
The Buddha said: There is no need to be too polite. You are only one step away from becoming a Buddha. I hereby appear to save you.
The eminent monk stood up quickly, knowing that this was his big opportunity.
He quickly asked: Buddha, what am I missing?
The Buddha replied: When you see nature and see Bodhi, the fruit of Bodhi blossoms, and the Buddha appears by himself.
If you want to be on the path to Buddhahood, you must go to the south, left, right, and south. If you hear that there are three thousand Buddhas, the Dharma bodies are very small and vast, and the big Buddha is in front of you, can you get close?
After hearing the sound, the eminent monk suddenly glowed with golden light.
achieved the true form of Arhat.
He never knelt down to thank you but said: Buddha, thank you, thank you, I understand.
