Nowadays, there are many people in monasteries who have become monks and have returned to secular life. In Buddhist temples, it is free to become a monk or return to secular life.
The first reason is that the loneliness in the temple, the strict precepts, and the lifestyle of going to temple every morning and evening, eating vegetarian food, and meditating, gradually became unbearable, so I chose to return to secular life.
The second reason is that after becoming a monk, I figured it out while thinking and observing life in the monastery, and chose to return to secular life. In a sense, it is also a kind of self-liberation. It is better than hanging around in the monastery and waiting to die.
The third reason is that they deny their own beliefs and believe that practice is of no use to them. Practice cannot lead to enlightenment, and practice cannot lead to purity. Although the real society is cruel, there are many temptations, so it is better to become a secular person. Go home, go to work, and eat meat.
The fourth reason is that pursuing a freer way to practice spiritual practice does not theoretically give up the Buddhist faith. Moreover, such people who return to secular life are absolutely sure that they will not have anything to do with the temple after returning to secular life.
