In our country, there have always been legends of Bodhisattvas appearing. However, some people claimed to have witnessed it with their own eyes in Mount Wutai and even took photos. Does the heaven in mythology really exist?
A strange phenomenon appeared in Mount Wutai
Mount Wutai is one of the four sacred mountains of Buddhism in my country. There are as many as 30,000 Buddha statues in existence. For thousands of years, Mount Wutai has witnessed the development and evolution of Buddhism. Every year on the eighth day of the fourth lunar month, it is the Christmas Day of Sakyamuni Buddha, also known as the Buddha Bathing Festival. It is one of the most grand Buddhist festivals in my country.
On this day, many domestic ashrams, temples and Buddhist holy places will hold various activities to celebrate. According to legend, worshiped immortals such as Bodhisattvas and Buddhas will also appear on this day to receive people's blessings and send blessings. In reality, from time to time, we hear people say that they have seen the Bodhisattva appear on this day, and even take photos to prove it. The most recent one happened on this year’s Buddha Bathing Festival.
What happened is this. A netizen broke the news that on this year’s birthday of Sakyamuni Buddha, a series of grand Buddha-blessing and other celebrations were held on Mount Wutai as usual. Wutai Mountain was surrounded by believers who came to participate in the event like him that day, all wanting to benefit from it.
Unexpectedly, as soon as the meeting started, a magical scene appeared. Under the shining of the sun, the "Sakyamuni Buddha's True Body Relic Pagoda" in the temple actually emitted dazzling colorful Buddha light. In this regard, everyone felt that the Buddha had appeared, so they stopped and bowed devoutly to the stupa with their hands clasped together.
Anyone who has been to a temple knows that photography is not allowed inside the temple. There is no truth without pictures, so it is difficult to tell whether the revelations made by netizens are true. However, the Bodhisattva's apparition incident that occurred in 1969 was actually a matter of fact.
It is said that at that time, a chief of staff named Ma was ordered to find a suitable residence for the leaders on Mount Wutai. After an on-the-spot investigation, Staff Sergeant Ma fell in love with the feng shui treasure of King Kong Cave. But unfortunately, this land is an important place for Buddhism and contains a large number of precious cultural relics, which cannot be moved. However, Chief of Staff Ma obviously did not believe it and ordered that the monks and people here should be emptied within three days. As for the cultural relics, they should be moved if they could, and those that could not be moved were destroyed on the spot.
3 days later, Chief of Staff Ma led a team to burn and destroy the cultural relics that could not be moved. Amidst the billowing smoke, a mysterious ball of light appeared. Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be Manjusri Bodhisattva . The outline of the Bodhisattva is very clear, surrounded by colorful Buddha lights, and his eyes are lowered, looking down at everyone. The believers present all believed that Manjushri Bodhisattva had appeared, and they knelt down and worshiped devoutly. This mysterious phenomenon was also photographed, and the photo was finally enshrined in Xiantong Temple in Mount Wutai.
Bodhisattva appeared more than once.
Bodhisattvas are not just fictional characters in myths. Do they actually exist? For thousands of years, it has been silently paying attention to human beings, showing up to give guidance and help when we need it?
In Chinese mythology, Bodhisattvas live in heaven, far away from the mortal world, but when mortals need them, they always appear at critical moments to help. In fact, in addition to myths and legends, there have also been stories of Bodhisattvas appearing among the people.
During the period of the Qing Dynasty, Emperor Shunzhi chose to become a monk at Qingliang Temple in Wutai Mountain. This was undoubtedly a scandal for the royal family, so the truth was concealed from Emperor Kangxi. Emperor Kangxi, who later learned the truth, went to Mount Wutai to visit Emperor Shunzhi, but accidentally got lost. At this time, an old man suddenly appeared to guide him. It is said that this old man was the incarnation of Manjushri Bodhisattva. The relationship between Emperor Kangxi and Manjushri Bodhisattva did not stop just once.
It is said that after his unexpected visit to Emperor Shunzhi, Emperor Kangxi received news that some monks in Wutai Mountain had problems with their style of work. In this important place of Buddhism, having an unsophisticated style of work was a big taboo, so Emperor Kangxi planned to go on a personal inspection tour to find out.
As soon as I arrived at the foot of Mount Wutai, I saw a monk bathing in the river, which instantly made Emperor Kangxi furious. Why was this? It turned out that this was the careless monk. There were many women washing clothes where he was bathing. Seeing this, Emperor Kangxi took an arrow and shot, but unexpectedly the monk suddenly disappeared.
This made Emperor Kangxi feel that something was a little strange, so he continued to pursue Wutai Mountain. When he arrived at the top of the Bodhisattva, he found that there was an arrow on the statue of Manjushri Bodhisattva, and it happened to be the one he shot. So Emperor Kangxi instantly understood that the monk was the incarnation of Manjushri Bodhisattva, and Manjushri Bodhisattva was just thinking about it. Just want to have fun with the people. It is said that because of these two adventures of Emperor Kangxi, there were later two Buddha statues of Manjusri with a lantern and Manjusri with an arrow on Mount Wutai.
In addition to royal nobles, Bodhisattvas have also appeared to help ordinary people. It is said that in May 1939, a certain unit of the Eighth Route Army was resting in Wutai Mountain. Suddenly, it received intelligence that there were Japanese troops nearby and they needed to rush over to support the battle. However, during the process of going to support, this unit was attacked by the Japanese army in Tongqiangou, and the situation was very critical.
At this moment, an old man approached the captain and claimed that he was a woodcutter on Wutai Mountain. He was very familiar with the place and knew that there was a path that could lead to leaving Tongqiangou. Hearing what the old man said, the captain immediately chose to lead the troops and follow the old man. Under the leadership of the old man, the troops successfully walked out of Tongqiangou. However, just when the captain was about to thank the enthusiastic old man, he found that the old man was missing.
Afterwards, the captain went to the locals to ask about the old man. When he wanted to thank him again, he found that there was no such person. In this regard, the people in Mount Wutai all thought that the Bodhisattva appeared, and this old man was the incarnation of Manjushri Bodhisattva.
And in 1998, another Bodhisattva appeared on Mount Wutai. In July of that year, Baiyun Temple planned to build the Main Hall. As usual, at the groundbreaking ceremony, the host had to take photos with the faithful men and women. There was nothing magical about it. But when the photo was developed, everyone found that in addition to the host and good men and women, there were also Amitabha, Bodhisattva and others in the photo, all exuding Buddha's light.
Of course, the authenticity of this matter still needs to be verified. But regardless of whether it is true or false, it reflects people's expectations for the Bodhisattva to appear. Because for the mortal body, the appearance of Bodhisattva not only means a miracle, but also means salvation and hope.
Especially for people who are in suffering and desperate situations, Bodhisattva is omnipotent, and Bodhisattva appears to help everyone overcome difficulties and escape from the sea of suffering. Although good men and women believe deeply in the Bodhisattva's spiritual appearance, will the Bodhisattva appear? Does the Heavenly Palace exist?
Does heaven really exist?
Mysterious phenomena frequently occur in the holy land of Foshan . Bodhisattvas appear. Does heaven really exist?
Although events of Sam’s apparitions have occurred from time to time throughout the ages, it is difficult to distinguish between true and false. Some people believe in the existence of gods and others do not. So can science explain the mysterious phenomena of many gods and Buddhas appearing? The answer is yes.
First of all, judging from the scenes of Bodhisattvas appearing or Buddha’s light appearing, what we see or hear are more or less similar and identical. For example, they are all lights and shadows, and they all appear in specific geographical environments, such as Mount Emeiwutai, Mount Putuo, Mount Emei. These can actually show that whether it is the Buddha's light or the phantom of the Bodhisattva appearing in the sky, it is more likely that it is just a natural phenomenon.
And some scientists have explained that the so-called Buddha's light is actually formed by the diffraction and diffuse reflection of sunlight on the surface of clouds and fog, which is the so-called mirage.When the sun is behind the viewer, the silhouette of the figure will be projected onto the clouds in front, and the ice crystals and water droplets in the clouds interact to form a unique circular rainbow and place the figure within it, forming a colorful Buddha light.
Therefore, Buddha’s light is a light and shadow phenomenon. As for why they only appear in Buddhist holy places, it is because the formation of this light and shadow phenomenon has extremely demanding environmental requirements. Its formation requires the action of many factors such as sunlight, terrain, and sea of clouds, and the places with these conditions in our country happen to be Bodhisattva dojos and Buddhist holy mountains, so they can easily be given special meanings.
Secondly, why do some people firmly believe in the manifestation of Bodhisattva? A very important reason is that in our myths and stories, or in our history and culture, there are gods, gods, and gods in heaven, and there are also Buddhas in the East. In addition, Buddhism and Taoism have been very prosperous in my country from ancient times to the present and have never disappeared. Therefore, with the attitude of preferring to believe in the existence of Bodhisattva, many people will naturally choose to believe in the existence of Bodhisattvas.
At the same time, as we have said before, in legends and myths, both Bodhisattva and Buddha are the embodiment of hope and salvation, and everyone is full of expectations and joy for gods and Buddhas. Therefore, whether it is the appearance of a Bodhisattva or the arrival of the Buddha, it is a good sign.
The appearance of Bodhisattva means that good luck is coming, it means punishing evil and promoting good, and it means bringing blessings to the world. But at the same time, Bodhisattvas are sacred and unique, so their appearance should also be mysterious. Therefore, when you are in a specific environment, such as a temple, it is easy to connect some strange and mysterious scenes with the appearance of Bodhisattvas.
Finally, the appearance of Bodhisattva is related to the spread of Buddhism. The existence of Buddhism is a kind of spiritual sustenance for believers. People place their trust in Buddhism for things that cannot be answered or cannot be solved in real life, hoping to find answers from it. However, Buddhism is also illusory. Their images in the world are only Buddha statues and statues in temples. But this is not enough for the believers. They need the existence of a more mysterious Buddha to place their expectations and hopes, so the Bodhisattva Apparition came into being.
Whether it is Bodhisattva or heaven, it does not exist in an objective sense. It is just a product of subjective psychological suggestion and specific natural scenes, used to place hope.
