Buddhist Taoist and other religious people, as well as some people who want to escape from the secular world, usually go to caves to practice or live in seclusion. Why is this so?
This is related to the word cave. From a Buddhist perspective, because some gods in India are related to the word cave, so during Buddhist practice in India, they often look for caves to practice. This is still the case today. Some ascetic monks in India still like to practice in caves.
A typical example is the Vulture Mountain Caves in India. According to the "Biography of Eminent Monk Faxian", in the early 4th century AD, Faxian of my country's Eastern Jin Dynasty visited Lingjiu Mountain and saw the place where hundreds of Buddha, Ananda and Arhats sat in meditation. Nowadays, the Indian government has put up a plaque in front of the grottoes, which states that "Chinese monk Xuanzang saw these grottoes in the 7th century."
After the introduction of Buddhism to our country, grottoes were built in many places. Yungang Grottoes , Longmen Grottoes , etc. were built in such an atmosphere.
The Sanskrit vocabulary of cave is also related to the king of a country. It’s also about worship.
The cave is also related to the mind. Mountain caves are often considered places of meditation. In 2019, Modi stayed in a cave for more than ten hours before the election. This was also the case. The first is to cultivate one's moral character in a calm manner, and the second is to show a belief.
Some Taoist priests or some reclusive people also go to caves, which is also related to this kind of culture.
