Beiqing-Beijing Toutiao reporter learned on November 18 that Danone Open Research Center released the "Nutrition Knowledge and Action Report" (hereinafter referred to as the "Report"). The report is technically supported by the Chinese Nutrition Society and focuses on the knowledge and behavior of pregnant women and their family members on nutrition during pregnancy. The "Report" shows that nearly 80% of pregnant women intend to breastfeed, but they do not know enough about obstacles such as mastitis; "enhancing immunity" is the primary concern, but insufficient attention is paid to intestinal health; and the rate of good dietary behavior among pregnant women is less than 10%.

The "Report" conducted a questionnaire survey on nutrition knowledge of 2300 pregnant women in 7 large, medium and small cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, etc. The results showed that women's nutritional awareness during pregnancy has continued to increase, but there is still a gap between behaviors and many pregnant women. Lack of understanding and preparation for the difficulties that may be encountered in postpartum breastfeeding.

The nutrition of pregnant women is directly related to the health of the two generations. However, the rate of exclusive breastfeeding within 6 months of age in my country is still far from the target of "Healthy China 2030". The "Report" survey found that over 80% of the pregnant women interviewed have a higher willingness to breastfeed, but they are not sufficiently aware of and prepared for the difficulties they may encounter in breastfeeding. The focus of the interviewees was mainly limited to “lack of milk”. 51.7% of pregnant women thought that they might encounter insufficient breast milk, and only 21.55% of pregnant women realized that breastfeeding mastitis affects lactation.

In fact, the incidence of breastfeeding mastitis in Chinese women has continued to rise in recent years, and the incidence may be close to 50% in some places. Lactational mastitis is becoming a major factor in interrupting breastfeeding. The results of the "Report" showed that more than half (55.54%) of pregnant women lacked professional and effective measures for mastitis prevention and treatment, and less than 10% (8%) of the respondents would consider using methods other than traditional physical methods, such as nutritional supplements. And so on to improve.

Affected by the epidemic, more than 70% of the respondents listed the value of "a reasonable diet and nutritional intake for improving immunity" as the primary consideration. Among them, nutrients such as protein, vitamin D and iron that help maintain the normal function of the immune system are of general concern during pregnancy.

Professor Zeng Guo, vice chairman of the Maternal and Child Nutrition Branch of the Chinese Nutrition Society and professor at the West China School of Public Health of Sichuan University, also recognized this trend. "Good nutrition is the material basis to ensure the realization of the basic function of immunity. During the special physiological period of pregnancy, it is necessary to guarantee the nutrition of the special stage to support the basic immune function." On the other hand, only 50% (53.9%) ) Respondents listed gut health as a health concern during pregnancy. In fact, the intestine is related to many diseases. Regulating the intestinal flora is an effective way to maintain intestinal health and the normal function of the immune system. For those who need special immunity enhancement or pregnant women, it is recommended to take appropriate food or supplements under the guidance of a doctor or nutritionist to maintain intestinal health. The

survey results show that nearly 90% of pregnant women are aware of the "Chinese Residents' Balanced Diet Pagoda", and more than 60% of pregnant women have a good knowledge of the "Diet Pagoda". But knowing is easy and doing is hard, and the rate of good behavior is only 5.24%. It was also found in the "Report" that more than 60% of pregnant women eat more staple foods and eat less vegetables and fruits, which may affect the nutritional balance of the diet to a certain extent.

Researcher He Mei, deputy director of the Beijing Institute of Nutritional Sources, said: “Only 3.5% of pregnant women can reach the recommended intake of calcium, and only 1.4% of pregnant women can reach the recommended intake of vitamin D. Fiber, only 0.97% of pregnant women can reach our recommended intake."
