According to Taiwanese media reports, TSMC's new factory in Arizona, USA is now in its final stage of completion, and TSMC is also increasing investment in the United States. It is reported that some of the production capacity will be moved to the United States, including the most advanced 3nm and 4nm. Public opinion on the island of Taiwan was in an uproar, saying that this will emptie Taiwan. The Kaohsiung , which was originally thriving because of the establishment of TSMC's factories, also fell to boost the liven up. In response to this, Taiwanese famous reporter Xie Hanbing angrily criticized, "The most advanced assets are in the United States, and Taiwan has been emptied!"
So why did TSMC transform into USGSMC? There are two main reasons. The first is the demand of the Americans. In order to eat up TSMC's industry, the United States passed a 52 billion chip bill, , and wanted to strengthen the localization of semiconductor production, that is, to return advanced industries. Faced with the Americans' tricks, the Tsai Ing-wen administration, who shouted "Love Taiwan" all day long, naturally did not dare to say anything. The second reason is that the global chip market is tight. Therefore, in order to meet customer needs and market environment, global chip manufacturers have increased their investment in the United States. TSMC is essentially a company, so it is not surprising that they go to the United States to make money.
In fact, TSMC's migration is just the beginning of the United States' embarrassment of Taiwan Province. Taiwan Province still has a lot of background in the semiconductor industry, which is also a major reason why Taiwan was able to get Asian four little dragons at the time. The current Taiwan semiconductor industry started in the 1960s. At that time, Zhang Zhongmou and others studied and worked as executives in the United States. Then, at the call of the Chiang government, they returned to Taiwan Province to establish semiconductor companies, and then gradually grew under the transfer of technology in the United States. The semiconductor industry in Taiwan is still very strong. In addition to the TSMC, which is a veritable world number one, Sun Moonlight is also the world's largest chip packaging foundry.
In addition, Taiwan Province also has the world's third largest silicon wafer factory, Global Crystal, the world's third largest chip foundry UMC , and the world's fourth largest IC designer MediaTek . In addition to large enterprises, Licheng Technology, wafer electronics, Lianyong, Realtek , and Qijing Optoelectronics are all famous semiconductor companies in Taiwan. So some people believe that the United States is not afraid of sucking away one TSMC, because "(semiconductor) is an industry that requires a long time to accumulate knowledge and professionalism, and Taiwan has produced many talents and will still be full of vitality in the next few decades."
But it is obvious that this is a self-deception statement, because after TSMC went to the United States to set up a factory, Americans not only had to absorb TSMC's funds and equipment, but also drain its engineers. According to reports, TSMC will send thousands of engineers to the United States, and talents in Taiwan will be emptied by the naked eye. Without talent, the advantages of equipment and factories will be broken sooner or later. This is also a major reason why Kaohsiung real estate has experienced a recent decline in liven up, because the market is always more sensitive than people.
