According to the Fastmode website on October 19, the digital division of the British Telecom Group announced that it is working with enterprise data platform provider Ab Initio to provide the group with large-scale strategic intelligent automated data management.
Ab Initio will support the real-time automation of rules, policies, frameworks, and the interconnection between core data, applications and processes, and people who rely on data. All of this work is crucial to effectively realize the impact of BT Group's 29pb data assets, with the group's internal value expected to total £500 million over the next five years. This value will come from the analysis of internal and external datasets to provide better customer and colleague outcomes, as well as operational efficiency and sales insights.

Ab Initio will support the data orchestration between the applications on its real estate and data platforms, built on the Google cloud. It will also provide a dynamic understanding of different data types, providing critical metadata, enabling data scientist and artificial intelligence software to take advantage of them. This in turn will allow the creation of reusable data products, such as including location or black dot data, customer interaction insights, etc. This supports BTG's ambition to make data (as well as code, design and documentation) as reusable as possible, minimizing repetitive labor and increasing productivity.
