●SA: Mobile phone demand is weak, RF GaAs device revenue will decline in 2022
On October 10, Strategy Analytics released a report saying that RF GaAs device revenue reversed its decline in 2020 from its first decline in more than a decade and continued to rise in 2021. The report notes that 5G devices and networks are the main drivers of this growth, but the report predicts that RF GaAs device revenue will decline in 2022 as inflation, trade sanctions, supply chain issues and uncertainty in the global economy are difficult to overcome. After 2022, revenue from RF GaAs devices will reach nearly US$9.3 billion (about RMB 66.309 billion) in 2026, and growth will resume. The extensive deployment of 5G mobile phones and networks will become the growth engine for future revenue growth of RF GaAs devices.
● Canalys: China's cloud infrastructure service expenditure reached US$7.3 billion in Q2 2022
In the second quarter of 2022, cloud infrastructure service expenditure in mainland China increased by 11% year-on-year to US$7.3 billion, accounting for 12% of global total cloud expenditure. But in sharp contrast to the high growth momentum of 33% of the global cloud service market, the growth rate of the Chinese market has slowed down significantly, falling below 20% for the first time. Canalys believes that the impact of the epidemic is the main reason for the slowdown in the growth rate of China's market. Canalys predicts that as commercial activities in first-tier cities begin to resume in June, China's cloud market will regain momentum in the second half of the year. Alibaba Cloud , Huawei Cloud , Tencent Cloud and Baidu AI Cloud continue to maintain their leading position in the Chinese cloud market.

●ATT is developing a satellite-based communication coverage service
According to ATT, the company will use AST SpaceMobile's satellite network as a complementary option for its cellular mobile network, and in the early stages of its launch, the service will be limited to emergency response only. However, Bloomberg reported earlier that the operator will be able to use satellite networks to help connect to communications in the future. It is reported that satellite connections will be applicable to ATT's existing LTE/5G spectrum, meaning customers may benefit from wider satellite coverage without changing their phones. At the same time, ATT will continue to work with other suppliers to open up other specific use cases for its satellite and mobile networks, such as offshore communication services for oil/gas rigs.

● Henan Unicom creates the "5G+Quantum" national secret security service platform
In response to the country's requirements of "strengthening the strategic planning and system layout of quantum technology development, targeting cutting-edge fields such as quantum information, and implementing forward-looking and strategic national major scientific and technological projects", Henan Unicom creates the "5G+Quantum" national secret security service platform to provide government units with a new generation of high-security office environment. Technicians said that China Unicom's "5G+Quantum" national secret security service platform includes quantum video conference, quantum crypto talk, and quantum secret message. It uses quantum channels to encrypt and transmit information data, which can prevent data from being monitored. Compared with traditional government daily office systems, "5G+Quantum" secret message, secret meeting, secret conversation and other functions can better meet today's requirements for high-security mobile offices.
● Beijing Telecom and Huawei complete residential area scenarios 64T64R MetaAAU innovative solution verification
Residential areas are key scenarios for weak coverage and decline in traffic. There are problems such as high 4G load, dense buildings, and difficult site selection. Traditional equipment cannot achieve good full coverage of 5G network. Recently, Beijing Telecom and Huawei jointly launched the commercial deployment of the new generation of green base station equipment 64T64R MetaAAU, and completed pilot verification of weak coverage scenarios in residential areas in Changping District, Beijing. Compared with traditional equipment, the new generation of green AAU achieves dual optimization of energy saving and performance. Without increasing the transmission power of the base station, it can improve the upstream and downstream coverage of the community by 3dB, bringing a 30% improvement in user experience.
