Over the years, the United States has been relying on its technical advantages in the field of semiconductor integrated circuit and is constantly modifying chip rules, hoping to use this to limit the export of high-end chips and suppress the development of my country's technology companies; but after entering 2022, the development of the global semiconductor market seems to have begun to usher in a major reshuffle. With the decline in smartphone sales, the demand for high-end chips in the entire consumer electronics market has continued to decline, and Chinese companies have also begun to cut chips continuously, and their ability in self-sufficiency has greatly improved!
You should know that the chips developed by the giants of Meixin are almost all high-end chips, but high-end chips are not the only ones in the market. Except for the needs in high-end consumer electronics fields such as smartphones, these high-end chips cannot be used in other industrial fields. The chips required for new energy vehicles are chips with mature processes above 28nm. Using high-end chips such as 7nm will only overcapacity and cannot exert any advantages. Therefore, Chinese companies have been constantly cutting orders for imported chips. It is reported that in the first seven months of 2022, the domestic imported chips decreased by 43 billion; and in the mature process chip field with mature process chips above 28nm, the self-production capacity has reached more than 190 billion!
Although there is a lack of advanced EUV lithography machines in China and cannot produce advanced chips below 7nm, in the mature process chip market above 28nm, SMIC has been making arrangements. Now SMIC has invested 52 billion yuan in China to build a 12-inch wafer factory and supports the manufacturing of 28nm chips. Faced with this situation, ASML has "changed its face" again and has begun to show goodwill to us many times, intending to ship more lithography machines ; Regarding the change in ASML's attitude, many foreign media have expressed: This is a worry, but we cannot take it lightly!
As the world's largest chip consumer market, my country's chip market has long exceeded one trillion levels. Faced with such a huge market, many upstream and downstream companies want to participate, and ASML is naturally no exception; in order to gain more market share in China, ASML has begun to increase its layout in the domestic market, and plans to recruit more employees in the mainland, expand the Chinese employee team to a scale of 1,700 people, and set up a "China Day" for Chinese employees, which shows how much ASML attaches to the domestic market!
