Walk into Luoping Biota National Geopark to explore ancient life imprints

Yunnan is a concentrated distribution area of stratigraphic paleontology with distinctive characteristics on the earth, and it is also the remains of ancient and unique species. In the Yunnan strata of less than 400,000 square kilometers, rich and complete fossil records have been preserved from the origin of life in Archean to the emergence of human beings in the Cenozoic. The Luoping Biota National Geopark, located in Luoping County, Yunnan Province, is one of the witnesses of biological evolution. As the 15th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP15) of the " Convention on Biological Diversity" is about to be held, let’s take a look at . Luoping The magic of the biota.

Luoping Biota National Geopark is located in the south-central Luoping County. It is a complete marine ecosystem composed of multiple species, including marine reptiles, fish, arthropods, molluscs, brachiopods, Echinoderm, conodonts, foraminifera, plants and remains fossils.

According to reports,The Luoping Biota is slightly earlier than the famous World Natural Heritage-Mount Saint George Fauna, and more than 20 million years earlier than the famous Guanling Fauna of Guizhou in my country. A typical representative of the overall recovery of the ecosystem, it is another major paleontological discovery after the fauna of the Maotian Mountain in the Fossil Dimaotian Mountain in Yuxi, Chengjiang, Yunnan. It is the world's only "Triassic Research Center" and has special geological scientific significance.

At present, there are 145 fossil specimens on display in the Specimen Exhibition Hall of the National Geopark of Luoping Biota, and more than 40 popular science panels. The relevant person in charge of the park stated that the park will continue to strengthen the management of the national geopark, improve the construction of the national geopark, promote the coordinated development of local resources, the environment and the economy, and make contributions to the construction of Yunnan's ecological civilization.
