Abbe Giovanna Caselli invented his Pantelegraph and became the first person to transmit still images over wires.
1873
Scientist Willoughby Smith conducted experiments on selenium and light, revealing the possibility that the inventors could convert images into electronic signals.
1876
Boston Civil servant George Carey was considering a complete television system and in 1877 proposed drawings of what he called the selenium camera that allows people to see through electricity.
Eugen Goldstein coined the term "cathode ray" to describe the light emitted when the current is forced through the vacuum tube.
1870s
Valeria Correa Vaz de Paiva, Louis Figuier and Constantin Senlecq proposed alternative designs for electron mirrors.
1880
Inventors Alexander Graham Bell and Thomas Edison (Thomas Edison) proposed theories about telephone devices that transmit images and sounds.
Bell 's optical phone uses light to transmit sound, and he wants to improve his image sending device.
George Carey built a basic system with photosensitive cells.

Sheldon Bidwell conducted an experiment with his telephoto photography, which is similar to Bell's photophone.

Paul Nipkow uses rotating metal disk technology to send images through wires, called an electric telescope with 18 rows of resolution.

The first International Power Conference was held at the Paris World Expo . This is where Russian Constantin Perskyi first used the word "TV".
1900 Shortly after, the momentum shifted from ideas and discussions to the physical development of television systems. Inventors pursue two main paths in the development of television systems.
- The inventor tried to build a mechanical television system based on Paul Nipko's rotating disc.
- Inventors tried to build an electronic television system based on cathode ray tubes independently developed in 1907 by British inventor A.A. Campbell-Swinton and Russian scientist Boris Rosing.
1906
Lee de Forest invented the Audion vacuum tube, which has proven to be crucial to electronic products. Audion is the first tube that can amplify signals.
Boris Rosing combines Nipkow's disc and cathode ray tubes and constructs the first working mechanical television system.
1907
Campbell Swinton and Boris Rosing recommend using cathode ray tubes to transfer images. They are independent of each other and have developed electronic scanning methods for reproducing images.
1923
Vladimir Zworykin patented his Icon Mirror, a TV camera tube based on Campbell Swinton's idea. The idol mirror he called the electric eye became the cornerstone of the further development of television. Zworkin later developed a development tube (also known as a receiver) for image display.
1924–1925
Americans Charles Jenkins and John Baird from Scotland demonstrated the mechanical transmission of images through lines, respectively.
John Baird became the first to use a mechanical system based on a Nipkow disk to transmit mobile silhouette images.
Charles Jenkin made his Radiovisor in 1931 and sold it as a kit to consumers assemble.
Vladimir Zworykin filed a patent for color TV systems.
1926–1930

1927
Bell Telephone Company and the U.S. Department of Commerce conducted its first long-distance television use between Washington, D.C. and New York City on April 7. Secretary of Commerce Herbert Hoover commented: "In a sense, today, we have achieved the first time in world history to spread vision. The genius of humanity has now destroyed the barriers to distance in (this) new ways in an unprecedented way.
Philo Farnsworth filed for the patent for the first fully electronic television system, which he called the image dissection.
1928
The Federal Radio Commission issued Charles Jenkins the first TV station license (W3XK).
1929
Vladimir Zvorkins Zworykin demonstrated the first practical electronic system for transmitting and receiving images using his new imaging tube.
John Baird opened the first TV studio; however, the image quality was poor.
1930
Charles Jenkins aired the first TV ad.
BBC Start regular TV broadcasts.
1933
Iowa State University (W9XK) has started working with WSUI radio stations to broadcast TV programs twice a week.
1936
There are about 200 TV sets in use worldwide.
introduces coaxial cable - A pure copper or copper-coated wire surrounded by insulation and aluminum cover. These cables were and are used to transmit television, telephone and data signals.
The first experimental coaxial cable was laid between New York and Philadelphia in 1936. The first conventional device connected Minneapolis and Point Stevens in 1941.
The original L1 coaxial cable system could carry 480 phone conversations or a TV show. By the 1970s, the L5 system could carry 132,000 calls or 200 Multiple TV shows.
1937
CBS started its TV development.
BBC began high definition broadcast in London.
BBC started to broadcast in high definition in London.
Brothers and Stanford researchers Russell and Sigurd Varian introduced Klystron. speed tube is a high frequency amplifier used to generate microwaves. It is considered to be the technology that makes UHF-TV possible because it can generate the high power required for that spectrum.
1939
Vladimir Zvorigin and RCA perform experimental broadcasts on Empire State Building .
TV is played at the World's Fair in New York and the Golden Gate International Fair in San Francisco. David of
RCA Sarnoff used his company’s exhibition at the 1939 World Expo as his first presidential speech ( Franklin Roosevelt ) on TV and introduced RCA’s new TV receiver series, some of which must be used with the radio if you want to hear sounds.
Dumont began making TV sets.

1941
FC released the NTSC standard for black and white TV.
1943
Vladimir Zvolikin (Vladimir Zworykin developed a better camera tube called Orthicon. Orthicon has enough sensitivity to record outdoor activities at night.
1946
Peter Goldmark, who works for CBS, showed his color TV system to the FCC.His system generates a color image by rotating the red, blue and green wheels in front of the cathode ray tube.
This mechanical means of making color images was used in 1949 to broadcast medical procedures at Pennsylvania and Atlantic City Hospital. In Atlantic City, viewers can come to the conference center to watch the operational broadcast. Reports at the time pointed out that seeing the realism of color surgery caused many viewers to faint.
Although Goldmark's mechanical system was eventually replaced by electronic systems, he is recognized as the first to introduce a radio color television system.
1948
Pennsylvania introduced cable TV as a means to bring TV to rural areas.
Louis W. Parker has obtained patent for a low-cost TV receiver.
There are one million families in the United States who own TVs.
1950
FCC approved the first color television standard, which was replaced by the second standard in 1953.
