Compared with last year, the number of black-necked crane vanguards this year has increased from 2 to 7 in 2021, and the arrival time has been nearly a week earlier.
According to relevant personnel from the Dashanbao Black Neck Crane National Nature Reserve Administration, at 17 o'clock that day, the crane guards monitored five black necked cranes landed in the Dahaizi wetland in the protected area through a telescope; at 18 o'clock, two black necked cranes were monitored to fly. By 19:00, these seven black-necked cranes were still sleeping overnight in the sea.
Dashanbao Black Neck Crane National Nature Reserve average altitude of 3200 meters, with a total area of 19200 hectares. It is an important wintering habitat for the black Neck Crane national first-class protected animal. In recent years, the local area has continuously returned farmland to wetlands and grass, strengthened the construction of food source bases, and the habitat environment of black-necked cranes has been continuously improved. In 2021, the number of black-necked cranes that steadily gathered in Zhaotong Dashanbao to live in winter reached 1,926, setting a new historical record for the number of black-necked cranes in Dashanbao. In addition to the black-necked crane, Dashanbao wetland is also a home for more than 30,000 migratory birds to live in winter.
