At around 10:00 am on October 26, the "Xuelong 2" polar scientific research ship set sail from the domestic base terminal of China's polar inspection located in Pudong , officially starting China's 39th Antarctic expedition. The Waigaoqiao Border Inspection Station of the Shanghai Border Inspection General Station has implemented the "window front + one-stop completion" customs clearance convenient measure, which has safely and quickly completed the exit border inspection procedures for the "Xuelong 2" and nearly 100 people on board to help them leave the country smoothly. The "Snow Dragon 2" with a total length of about 122 meters and a width of about 22 meters, a designed displacement of nearly 14,000 tons and a cruising capacity of 20,000 nautical miles is China's first independently built polar scientific investigation icebreaker . It is also the world's first polar scientific investigation icebreaker that uses two-way icebreaking technology for bow and stern. It can be said to be a veritable heavy weapon of a great power.

It is reported that this Antarctic scientific expedition will be jointly performed by "Snow Dragon" and "Snow Dragon 2". The focus will be on major scientific issues such as the response and feedback of key sea areas in the South Ocean to global climate change, and conduct investigations and research in related fields such as atmospheric composition, water environment, sedimentary environment, and ecosystems. Ice and snow environment monitoring and astronomical observations are carried out along Zhongshan Station, Taishan Station, , and Kunlun Station. Use the "Snow Eagle 601" fixed-wing aircraft to carry out sub-ice terrain detection in areas such as Princess Elizabeth. At the same time, people overwintering and supplies were rotated and supplies were replenished for Antarctic Zhongshan Station and Great Wall Station. After the departure of the "Snow Dragon 2", the "Snow Dragon" expedition ship is scheduled to set sail for Antarctica on October 31.
From "Snow Dragon" to "Snow Dragon 2", behind the "Two Dragons Explosion" is the continuous leap in my country's scientific and technological innovation capabilities. As one of the few countries in the world that can conduct independent inspections and establish scientific research stations in the polar region, China has spent more than 30 years to establish a relatively complete polar three-dimensional monitoring system since its first visit to Antarctica in 1984, and the depth and breadth of scientific exploration are constantly expanding.
In order to ensure the safe and rapid departure of "Xuelong 2", at 8 a.m. on October 26, Waigaoqiao Border Inspection Station deployed police forces to arrive at the dock in advance, and prepared for building inspection points, planning inspection channels, sorting out personnel information, etc., and set up the "outbound border inspection window" to the side of the dock ship. After the "front of the window" is completed, the border inspectors wearing protective clothing quickly and orderly completed the exit border inspection procedures for the "Xuelong 2" and the crew on board to ensure that the scientific expedition team members and crew members "get on board as they come and do it anytime and get on board" and help the "Xuelong 2" leave the country smoothly.
