The 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China closed successfully in Beijing on October 22. The conference elected 205 Central Committee members, 171 alternate members of the Central Committee and 133 members of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection. Zhang Rongqiao, an alumnus of Qimen No. 1 Middle School and chief designer of China's first Mars exploration mission, was elected as an alternate member of the 20th Central Committee.
Zhang Rongqiao was invited to his alma mater Qimen No. 1 Middle School to give inspirational reports in June 2017 and September 2021 respectively.
Zhang Rongqiao was born in March 1966, from Anling Town, Qimen County, Anhui Province. He graduated from Xi'an University of Electronic Science and Technology with an undergraduate degree in electromagnetic field and microwave technology in 1988, and graduated from master's degree in China Space Technology Research Institute in 1991. He is currently an alternate member of the 20th Central Committee and chief designer of China's first Mars exploration mission " Days-1 ", and also a professor at Xi'an University of Electronic Science and Technology. He has worked in the front line of aerospace technology and has high academic attainments in electromagnetic fields and microwave technology. On December 16, 2021, the British magazine " Nature " released the list of the top ten figures of the year 2021. The person who has a place in major scientific events is focused on. Zhang Rongqiao, chief designer of China's first Mars exploration mission engineering, became the only Chinese selected. On April 24, 2022, the National Space Administration hired Zhang Rongqiao as the image ambassador of China's aerospace charity charity.
