Recently, the world's first electromagnetic propulsion ground ultra-high-speed test facility, the "Electromagnetic Skid" facility, was successfully operated in Jinan. The maximum propulsion speed for objects of tons and above can reach 1,030 kilometers per hour, creating a world highest speed record for large-mass ultra-high-speed electromagnetic propulsion technology. The research and development of high-speed advanced equipment such as high-speed ground transportation and aviation aircraft must solve a series of scientific and technological problems such as aerodynamics, high-strength advanced materials, and high-speed measurement and control under complex dynamic processes. The electromagnetic skid facility built with electromagnetic propulsion technology has outstanding advantages such as high thrust, fast response, accurate and controllable, and can provide important testing methods for solving the above problems.
The world's first electromagnetic skiing facility is located in Jinan, Shandong. It is a major project for Chinese Academy of Sciences to carry out strategic cooperation with Shandong Province and Jinan City. During the design and construction of electromagnetic skid facilities, the scientific research team of the Institute of Electrical Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences broke through a series of key core technologies, and a number of technical indicators reached the world's leading level. At present, electromagnetic skid facilities can provide test and testing services to relevant domestic enterprises and research units, which is of great significance to supporting the continuous and rapid development of my country's large-quality high-speed advanced equipment and research on high-speed science and technology.
