In the past ten years, "Antarctic" has become the keyword in my meteorological career.
In May 2022, I ended the 37th Antarctic scientific expedition in China Great Wall Station overwintering mission and returned to Wutaishan Meteorological Station . 8 years ago, I was also lucky to go to Zhongshan Station in Antarctica to participate in the 31st Antarctic wintering scientific expedition.
The experience of scientific research in Antarctica for more than 1,000 days has allowed me to witness the great development of polar scientific research in my country, and I also deeply understand the great significance of meteorology as the most basic natural science to the earth's ecology and mankind.

Antarctic is a natural experimental base for studying celestial bodies and atmospheric physics, burying the "key" to uncover countless scientific mysteries of the earth. It has always attracted countless explorers to come to this ancient land one after another.
Meteorological observation and research are one of the important contents of Antarctic scientific research. Since the Great Wall Station was built in 1985, polar meteorological scientific research has been included in the field of weather and climate research in my country, providing indispensable data for my country to study atmospheric science .

In mid-June 2021, light rain, low temperature and strong winds for several consecutive days made the entire Great Wall Station almost wrapped in thick ice. On the wind rod more than ten meters high, the wind direction and wind speed sensor was frozen tightly by Freezing Rain , and the data was abnormal. After reporting to the webmaster, I was allowed to "removal maintenance after the wind speed decreased."

I used my hand hammer to remove the hard ice layer that was one inch thick on the wind rod, while slowly climbing the wind rod. The cold wind was biting and the equipment was heavy. When I climbed up to the top of the wind pole, my hands and feet were so stiff that I could hardly feel it. Deicing begins! I removed the ice little by little to ensure that the wind measuring instrument is not damaged. The webmaster and teammates who assisted on the ground asked me nervously from time to time, "Do you want to come down first and then warm up?" Until the wind direction and wind speed sensor began to rotate and the data returned to normal, we finally breathed a sigh of relief!

Compared with our automatic upload in China, the process is not only cumbersome, but also has poor timeliness and stability.In recent years, with the development of the scientific research station website, the information can be directly transmitted to the National Meteorological Information Center in real time, greatly improving the quality of scientific research business.

In 2014, Zhongshan Station wintering dormitory was built , improving the living conditions of wintering players. After years of continuous construction, making phone calls, surfing the Internet, and watching videos is no longer a problem. Various fitness and entertainment facilities such as basketball, badminton, table tennis, etc. It also enriched the team members' spare time.
At the end of 2015, the fixed-wing aircraft was put into use , which not only allowed scientific expedition personnel and equipment to arrive at the site faster, but also was loaded with advanced scientific expedition equipment such as ice radar, aeronautical gravity instrument, aeronautical geomagnetic instrument, and synthetic aperture radar, providing us with a mobile test platform for further understanding of Antarctica.

In 2019, the first polar scientific research icebreaker built by my country, Xuelong 2 was delivered to use . This is the world's first polar scientific research icebreaker that uses two-way icebreaking technology for bow and stern. The ship has extremely high safety and excellent cold resistance, and its intelligence level is also very high, filling the gap in my country's major equipment for polar scientific research.
