组花文 - a mysterious sea fish that usually only appears when an earthquake occurs on the seabed, so it is considered an "ominus sign". However, they have been continuously discovered on the Mexican coast recently.
On October 5, an Mexican fisherman posted a video of white sturgeon on the Internet, titled: "The hairtail found in the Sinaloa waters of Mexico." The fish is still alive in the tank on the truck.
Before this, in July 2022, some Chilean fishermen caught a white sturgeon. This considerable fish, more than 5m long and bone-shaped, was hooked by fishermen and dragged ashore.
There has been no link between the paddlefish and earthquakes, but the continuous appearance of paddlefish in one place often makes many people worry. In fact, in 2010, at least 10 white sturgeons appeared and were washed up to the northern coast of Japan. Then, in March 2011, a magnitude 9 earthquake occurred in the northeast of the country, followed by a powerful tsunami that killed nearly 19,000 people and destroyed Fukushima nuclear power plant .
According to researchers at the Florida Museum (USA), this white sturgeon, known scientifically as Regalecus glesne, can grow nearly 10 meters long. Due to their unusual length and intimidating appearance, they are often called "sea monsters", however, this fish has no teeth and eats only krill and crustaceans.
The white sturgeon has a slender silver body and red fins, usually living in the deep sea and rarely surfaces. The fish is expected to surface before an upcoming earthquake, as it is very susceptible to vibrations from the seabed fault line.
However, , Kagoshima University, professor of ichthyology, explains Hiroyuki Motomura. "I think this fish usually swim to the surface when living conditions are bad and being pushed up by the water flow. So they often die when they are found."
"But there is no clear scientific evidence that there is a link between the paddlefish and earthquakes, so I don't think people have to worry too much," said Professor Hiroyuki
