According to Xu Sanxiong, drug withdrawal syndrome is clinically called withdrawal syndrome, which refers to the various symptoms of sudden stopping of medication by using some long-term medications that can cause physical discomfort. For example, after long-term use of beta receptor blockers, antidepressants, glucocorticoids and other drugs, the body becomes adaptable to these drugs. If the drug is suddenly stopped or the dose is reduced too quickly, the body's regulatory function will be dysregulated and functional disorders will occur, resulting in a series of rebounds in the condition or clinical symptoms, rebound phenomena and aggravation of the disease.

Xu Sanxiong emphasized that after taking beta receptor blocking drugs for a long time, the incidence of "drug withdrawal syndrome" is 5% to 10%, which mostly occurs within 2 to 7 days of stopping the drug. It can cause rebound blood pressure increase, heart rate accelerated, frequent angina pectoris, arrhythmia, and even myocardial infarction or sudden cardiac death. Therefore, to effectively prevent drug withdrawal syndrome, we should adopt a gradual reduction method and slowly withdraw the drug.
Xu Sanxiong reminds that common beta-blocking drugs include bisoprolol, propranolol , atenolol , etc. When taking such drugs for a long time, you should be careful not to stop the drug suddenly. If you really need to stop the drug due to the condition, you should gradually reduce the dose according to the patient's dosage under the guidance of a doctor. Generally, the dose will be stopped after at least 1-2 weeks. Moreover, the larger the dosage, the longer it takes to reduce the dose until the dose is stopped. At the same time, beta receptor blocking drugs will cause heart rate to slow down and blood pressure to decrease.
