The Mid-Autumn Festival is approaching, please keep this consumer reminder!

Mid-Autumn Festival is approaching, Chinese traditional cakes and mooncakes have been listed in major supermarkets and e-commerce platforms. The Autonomous Region Food Inspection and Research Institute reminds consumers to pay attention to the following points when buying moon cakes:

1 label information clearly

"Prepackaged Food Labeling General Rules" requires that the labeling of prepackaged foods should include the labeling of prepackaged foods. Name, ingredient list, net content and specifications, producer and (or) distributor's name, address and contact information, production date and shelf life, storage conditions, food production license number, product standard code and other content that needs to be marked. Some moon cake packages are also printed with food nutrition labels, including a "nutrient composition table" in the form of a table. Among them, the nutrient composition table should at least mark the content of 5 elements (energy, protein, fat, carbohydrate, sodium) and their accounted for the daily nutrient reference value .

It is best for consumers to buy mooncakes through regular channels such as supermarkets and cake shops. Do not buy or consume products that are unlabeled or have incomplete label information, unclear content, cover up, reprint or tamper with the label.

2 The order of ingredients is exquisite

According to the requirements of national food safety standards, all food additives used in food must be indicated in the ingredient list, and in accordance with the amount added when manufacturing or processing the food. Arrange them one by one from high to low. Ingredients with an added amount of not more than 2% may not be arranged in descending order. For moon cakes sold in formal channels, the types and amounts of food additives used should be added in accordance with national standards. The additives used in moon cakes mainly include sodium carbonate , potassium carbonate, citric acid , potassium sorbate, etc.It can not only improve the water retention and softness of moon cakes during baking and storage, make the taste better, but also prevent the moon cakes from spoilage and ensure food safety.

For people who control energy and sugar intake, how can I check whether mooncakes are sugar-free or low-sugar? The national food safety standard " prepackaged food nutrition labeling general rules" stipulates that " sugar-free" refers to the carbohydrate content in the nutritional composition table ≤0.5g/100g, and " low sugar" refers to the nutritional content The carbohydrate content in the table is less than or equal to 5g/100g. The sweetness of sugar-free mooncakes comes from the addition of oligosaccharides or sweeteners, and most of them will not cause the blood sugar to rise too quickly. But pay attention to distinguish "no sugar" and "no sucrose". "No sucrose" means that the ingredients do not contain sucrose, white sugar, soft white sugar, etc., but it does not mean that no other sugars (glucose, fructose are added) , Lactose, maltose, etc.). For "sucrose-free" mooncakes, people who control blood sugar still need to be cautious in buying.

3 warranty period should be paid attention to

When purchasing mooncakes, pay attention to whether the production date and warranty period are clearly marked on the package. Food safety related regulations, when the same pre-package contains multiple single-piece pre-packaged foods with the production date and expiration date, for example, the moon cake gift box contains multiple flavors of moon cakes or contains other food at the same time, the production indicated on the outer packaging The date should be the production date of the earliest single piece of food, or the date when the outer packaging formed a sales unit, and the shelf life indicated on the outer packaging should be calculated based on the shelf life of the earliest expiring single piece of food. The production date and shelf life of single-packed food, and the label of pre-packaged food shall indicate the storage conditions.

moon cakes are high-fat foods.Oxidative rancidity is prone to occur. Moon cakes that have not been eaten at one time should be stored in a low temperature, cool, ventilated place or refrigerator.
