Recently, the survey, design and construction general contracting of the Changhua Street Historical and Cultural Block protection and revitalization project started bidding. The construction content mainly includes the protection and improvement of historical and cultural protected objects, as well as the revitalization of public spaces and the protection of people's livelihood. Changhua Street Historical and Cultural Block Protection and Revitalization Project is located in Changhua Street, Liwan District, Guangzhou, surrounded by Longjin West Road - Enning Road - Duobao Road and Liwan Yong. It is one of Liwan District's 14 historical and cultural blocks. The project site extends to Fengyuan Zhongyue in the north, Longjin West Road and Enning Road in the east, and is bounded by the original Lychee Bay Chung tributary (Changhua Chung) in the west and south, including parts of Changhuayuan Community and Xiguan Dayu Community . The total land area of the project is 6.06 hectares, of which 4.84 hectares are in the core protection area of Changhua Street Historical and Cultural Block and 1.22 hectares are in the construction control zone of Changhua Street Historical and Cultural Block. In addition, based on the demand for quality road construction in the northern part of Liwan District, it is planned to include the road improvement work of Huangsha Avenue and Yuenan Street into the Changhua Street historical and cultural block protection and revitalization project.

The main construction contents of the revitalization and utilization of Changhua Street Historical and Cultural Block include two parts. The first part is the protection and improvement of historical and cultural protected objects, which mainly includes the protection of the building body, interior decoration improvement, protection plan during construction, and structural enhancement. Solid and facade lighting projects, building activation and utilization, and protection of historical environmental elements; the second part is public space activation and people's livelihood protection, in which public space activation includes facade renovation, public space nodes, parking facility renovation, etc.; people's livelihood protection includes area linkage, infrastructure optimization, service facility optimization, neighborhood environment improvement, building body improvement, etc.
As the core area of Xiguan, Guangzhou, the Changhua Street Historical and Cultural District is rich in historical and cultural resources. The interior of the site is mainly residential land, with shops along Enning Road, Longjin West Road, and Duobao Road. There are public facilities such as kindergartens, nursing homes, and street offices within the block, as well as a small number of commercial facilities. In addition, the Changhua Street Historical and Cultural District is mainly occupied by businesses such as stores and retail fast food, and its functions are relatively single. Coupled with the insufficient development of cultural products such as public open spaces , cultural display spaces, Lingnan architectural styles, etc., the Changhua Street Historical and Cultural District has a strong historical and cultural heritage, but does not have a cultural atmosphere that matches it, resulting in a lack of linkage in the development of business, tourism and culture, making it difficult to form strong competitiveness. This project will help to construct a space that is in line with the overall development positioning through the improvement of the spatial environment. It will focus on creating a cultural and tourism experience belt along Changhua Heng Street and Changhua New Street, and a waterfront leisure belt along the river. It will enrich the business formats and characteristics of the commercial streets along the surrounding streets, and fully enhance the vitality of the neighborhood.
