Recently, a rare equipment of the Ukrainian army - a 220mm multi-barrel rocket launcher of the "Bureviy" was destroyed by the Russian army on the front line of Kharkiv Prefecture. The "Storm" 220mm multi-barrel rocket launcher is an upgraded model developed by the Ukrainian army based on the Soviet BM-27 "Hurricane". The artillery has a total of 16 directional tubes, equipped with a modern digital fire control system and a new guided rocket. This has increased the range of "Storm" from 40 kilometers to 60 kilometers compared with the original "Hurricane". It can complete the target's strike within three minutes and quickly withdraw from the position to prevent the enemy's long-range firefighting counterattack. The biggest feature of the "Storm" rocket launcher is that it uses the new Czech Outrising Arms Company's Tow T815-7T3RC1 truck chassis to replace the Jill 135 chassis used by "Hurricane". It has stronger off-road capabilities and has more complete protection capabilities in the cab (compliant with the NATO STANAG4569 protection 3A/3B protection standard). However, due to the replacement of a new chassis and the adoption of the new fire control system , the price of the "Storm" rocket launcher was twice as high as the original BM-27. Before the war, the Ukrainian army only purchased 16 T815-7T3RC1 chassis from the Czech Republic, so the number of the Ukrainian army's "Storm" rocket launcher was only 16. The first "Storm" destroyed by the Ukrainian army was exposed on December 9.

Although the "Storm" rocket launcher further explored the potential of the old Soviet 220mm rocket launcher, it is limited by the basic design of old ammunition, and the Ukrainian army lacks advanced reconnaissance vehicles and drone . This kind of rocket launcher, which is relatively new to the Ukrainian army, is difficult to play an important role in the war. Although the survival of the "Storm" battlefield has improved a certain degree than that of the "Hurricane", the Russian army has a much better reconnaissance and cascade system than the Ukrainian army. Therefore, it is not surprising that the Ukrainian army's new "Storm" multi-barrel rocket launcher was destroyed after being discovered by the Russian air reconnaissance system. Judging from this photo of the "storm" being destroyed, the directional tube of the rocket launcher in the middle of the vehicle has disappeared, but the cab is relatively intact. Recently, the United States announced that it would provide another batch of "Haimas" to the Ukrainian army, and once again stated that the Ukrainian army's "Haimas" will not have the ATACMS "army tactical missile system" with a range of 300 kilometers to prevent the Ukrainian army from attacking Russia. But despite this, the United States intends to further extend the attack range of Ukrainian "Haimas". In late November, the United States considered equipping the Ukrainian "Haimas" with the "Ground Launch Small Diameter Bomb" (GLSDB) jointly developed by Boeing and Swedish Saab. GLSDB began research and development in 2019, and was composed of M26 rocket removal of warheads and equipped with GBU-30 small-diameter guided bombs (SDBs) widely used by the US Air Force. For the US military, these two equipments are sufficient inventories and this modification is very cheap. During launch, the M26 rocket engine delivers SDB to a certain height and falls off.
