1. Try but doesn't work
According to World II research, most soldiers refuse to shoot enemy soldiers, which is just a normal reaction of human beings - we usually don't want to kill people.
The first attempt of Nazi extermination came from the SS's "Mobile Killing Team" Rangers. These guys would slaughter any Jews they found in villages, usually shooting them and burying them in mass graves.
You can imagine that killing thousands of children and women from small villages would put a heavy burden on them even for a stubborn Nazi anti-socialist. In fact, many of these squad members committed suicide or otherwise collapsed. This is such a big problem that the SS seniors think this kind of execution is too difficult for these people.
So in early 1942, SS's "So Who" came together and decided on a better plan - slaughtering Jews with poison gas. Most Jews were locked up in ghettos where they could be transported to camps and killed.
2, good gas effect
, even deniers will not question the T4 plan, mainly because we have the order signed by Hitler. The plan is to eliminate people with disabilities, involving "gas trucks", which is the prototype gas chamber .
These trucks are working well - very good. Vans will park and receive people with disabilities under the guise of “delivering them to better medical facilities.” The van would drive away and start gas treatment, and when it reached the site of the secret corpse dumping, everyone behind was dead.
These trucks were so well-run that the Nazis tried to build gas chambers in actual camps. They tested the gas chambers in Auschwitz and found that they were effective. You can kill hundreds or even thousands of people in 15 minutes and no one needs to “pull the trigger.”
A few people just need to go to the roof, pour some crystals from a hole, and drive away. In 30 minutes, prisoners in the concentration camp will be forced to clean the bodies, clean the rooms, and prepare for the next round of victims. In short, this is a very clean and effective way to kill a lot of people very quickly.
Several guards locked the door, several people poured out crystals, and several people supervised the cleaning of the gas chamber. You can kill thousands of people, only a dozen soldiers are needed. This is a murder on an industrial scale.
3: People don't like being shot
If you round up a group of Jews in front of the gun in a village, they may do what you told them to do. However, once you explicitly intend to kill them (and it will become clear), they may choose to fight back. Nearby guerrillas may also join the battle, and many small SSs find themselves fighting the guerrillas.
Now imagine if you want to shoot the arrivals in Auschwitz concentration camp instead of poisoning them with poison gas. Does this work? No!
First off camp guards is not exactly the Einsatzgruppen killing machine. These are simply trained party loyalists, not stubborn killers. There are honest sociopaths in the mix, but not the majority. These guys don't want to shoot a bunch of civilians again and again.
What happens when 100 people fire at 1,000 or 10,000 people? Well, usually the person who was shot would rush in and try to overwhelm the attacker – that might work. Then there will be a full-scale riot in your hand, with 100 convicted Jews rushing around the camp with German guns. Not good for the Nazis (although we all liked it).
The point is - it doesn't work.
Compare it to the gas chamber. The guard assured the prisoners that they only need a shower to prevent lice from spreading. This is credible. Even if you realize something is happening, there is nothing you can do because everyone else is dragging to the “shower” – so you let it go, hoping your intuition is wrong. There is nothing you can do when you know what is going on.
4: Not very secretive
The Germans are not promoting the Holocaust, but hiding it.
The massacre of the village left behind witnesses, empty villages and mass graves. This is a problem for the Nazis who wanted to cover up the Holocaust. In fact, as the war began to come to an end, Himmler ordered the SS troops to dig out mass pits and burn bodies to cover up the evidence. Since 1942, the Nazis did not want to build mass pits again—it was too troublesome and there was too much evidence.
gas chamber is very suitable for hiding things though. Any prisoner who watches will see new prisoners being taken to the "shower room". Now they know what the hell is going on, but they can't see anything.
The body was taken from the gas chamber to the same hidden crematorium. According to the people who built the gas chambers, 4,700 bodies can be burned every day in Auschwitz. There were no bodies, few witnesses, and no survivors. This is exactly what Germany wants.
