Nanxun Reef is located at the southwest end of Zhenghe Group of Reefs . It is a huge reef. This reef is composed of north and south corals. The northern reef is larger and is called Nanxun Reef, while the southern reef is smaller and is called Xiaonan Xun Reef. The distance between Nanxun Reef and Xiao Nanxun is 2.5 nautical miles, the distance between the islands and reefs is 2.5 nautical miles, and the water depth between the two is 12.8 to 18.3 meters. Chinese fishermen call Nanxun Reef Shazai.

In 1988, my country began to build the first generation of stilt houses on Nanxun Reef. The first generation of stilt houses were supported by steel rods , bamboo poles were used as pillars, and asphalt was capped. The first generation of stilt houses only had an area of 10 square meters. The first generation of stilt houses did not have any wind resistance and could only serve as a shelter. This stilt house has limited space for activities and no other living facilities. Due to the supply capacity of our navy, it is difficult for the officers and soldiers guarding the reef to eat fresh vegetables.

At the end of 1988, China began to build the second generation of stilt houses on six islands and reefs including Nanxun Reef. The second generation of elevated houses uses steel piles as columns and iron sheets as walls. This kind of house only has an area of 30 square meters. Although the second-generation stilt house has greatly improved its wind resistance and stability, the Nansha Islands are close to the equator and have high temperatures and rain all year round. Once the iron house is exposed to the sun, it will be very stuffy. At that time, the iron houses were not equipped with air-conditioning and other facilities, which resulted in difficult conditions for the officers and soldiers guarding the island.

In 1990, my country began to build third-generation stilt houses. This type of building uses reinforced concrete construction. The third-generation reinforced concrete building stilt house is equipped with seawater desalination facilities, rainwater collection system, satellite phone and other equipment. In 2014, my country began the sand blowing and reclamation project on the seven islands of Nansha. my country's most powerful weapon for sand blowing and reclamation projects is the Tianjinghao . The maximum soil transportation distance of Tianjing is 6 kilometers, and the maximum dredging depth is 15 meters. The reclamation areas of the Nansha Islands this time are Meiji Island .66 square kilometers, Subi Island 4.3 square kilometers, Yongshu Island 2.8 square kilometers, Huayang Island 20.28 square kilometers, Nanxun Island 0.18 square kilometers, Chigua Island .12 square kilometers, and Dongmen Island 20.08 square kilometers. The total reclamation area of the seven Nansha Islands is 13 square kilometers, accounting for 80% of the land area of the Nansha Islands.

Nanxun Reef presents a "only shape" after the sand blowing reclamation project. The main part of "Zhi" sub-kou is Nanxun Reef, which is rectangular with an approximate area of 0.1 square kilometers. Nanxunjiao is located on the Zhenghe Reefs. Now Vietnam has occupied Hongxiu Island, Bolan Reef and Dunqian Shoal in the Zhenghe Reefs. Vietnam will start reclamation projects on Hong Xiu Island and Don Kiem Sandbank in 2022. The current area of Hongxiu Island is 0.47 square kilometers, and the area of Dunqian Sandbank is 0.25 square kilometers. The scale of Hongxiu Island will be further expanded. From the satellite image, an airstrip model will be built on Hongxiu Island and the size of the dock will be expanded. The scale of Hongxiu Island has also expanded several times.
