Comrade Hu Qicai is from Hong'an, Hubei Province. He was born in a poor peasant family. In 1930, he participated in Red Army . Before he was transferred to the 32nd Regiment, he was injured in a battle and was sent to the rear hospital for treatment. After recovering from injury, he was assigned to the Third Battalion of the 32nd Regiment as the political commissar. Therefore, when our 11th Division caught fire with the enemy, we first let the enemy's first three shots. When the enemy rushed up and a platoon was shot out, letting the enemy in front be on the ground, the enemy would not dare to move forward easily.Our entire division and the entire regiment adopted this style of fighting, which first destroyed the enemy's fierce power. Later, although the enemy launched repeated attacks, they lost the power of the pioneer. They just had to do that under the command of the superior. However, on that night, the enemy's follow-up troops, the 10th Division and the 34th Brigade, rushed over and over. This fierce battle of fighting lasted until dusk. At this moment, the enemy's 44th Division rushed to reinforce from Shuanghechang. The enemy who had fought with our army for a day, saw that his reinforcements arrived, began to launch a fierce counterattack against our army. When the leaders saw that it was getting late, they ordered the troops to return to their original positions to form a situation of confrontation between the enemy and us.
At dawn on the 21st, the enemy began a crazy attack again. Our army stood firm on the occupied positions, fighting hand-to-hand with each other in the morning and mud, and after several hard battles, the attacking enemy corpses were covered with blood. At this time, the enemy's 51st Division attacked from our side and the first division that was once repelled by our army quickly pressed forward, forming a siege against our army. What is most worrying is that the headquarters was also approached by the enemy who rushed in. Just as the headquarters personnel were in the battle, our ten-year commander Ni Zhiliang and political commissar Li Xiannian led us to rush forward. At this time, everyone was anxious and obeyed Qing, and sacrificed their lives to fight against the enemy. Finally, they repelled this rash enemy and turned the general command into danger.

He bravely sacrificed his life while leading the entire regiment to complete the task and fell asleep suddenly on the way to the war.
