As we all know, the Chinese Navy and the Chinese Coast Guard are both my country's regular maritime armed forces. However, the former belongs to the People's Liberation Army and is our national defense force. It was established on April 23, 1949; the latter is part of the Chinese People's Armed Police Force (i.e. the "Coast Guard Corps"), which undertakes tasks such as maritime rights protection and law enforcement and maritime public security and order management. It was established on July 22, 2013 (but it was transferred to the Armed Police Force on July 1, 2018). Although the "born system" is different, the two have always cooperated and supported each other in their daily actions, and no one can do without each other, making great contributions to defending national sovereignty and safeguarding maritime rights and interests. As many domestic military experts said: "The Navy and the Coast Guard are like the right-hand men of the motherland. They are both the "main forces" to defend maritime power and consolidate maritime defense, and they are indispensable!"
In fact, since the Chinese Coast Guard transferred to the armed police force, my country has developed a viable force in the fields of sovereignty declaration, driving away foreign ships, fishing protection and escort, and key sea area control. Naval ships have been able to withdraw. At present, the Chinese Coast Guard has played the role of "main force" in the above fields. For example, the Chinese Coast Guard actively participates in the Diaoyu Islands territorial water cruise, the South China Sea normalized patrol control and other operations, and the mighty Chinese Coast Guard ship has become a beautiful scenery at the sea.
As my country's regular national defense force, the Chinese Navy can have enough energy to specifically increase military training and improve the ability of the navy's front-line ship troops to perform ocean-going missions; on the other hand, the Navy is still the "backer" and backing of the Coast Guard Force , and can provide support and cover for the coast guard. The most convincing example is the "combination punch of protecting rights in the Diaoyu Islands": Chinese coast guard ships rushed to the front line to fight wits and courage with Japanese Coast Guard ships. At the same time, Chinese naval warships must be closely guarding and standing by on standby on the waters of the Diaoyu Islands to prevent Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Forces from acting rashly. By analogy, my country's rights protection and law enforcement activities in East China Sea , Yellow Sea, South China Sea and other waters are also similar "military and police combination model", and the practical effect is very good.
It is worth mentioning that thanks to the growth of my country's comprehensive national strength, the Chinese Coast Guard has long achieved earth-shaking changes. Large patrol ships are not only large in number but also of good quality, with significantly improved endurance and self-sustainment, and can conduct joint operations with the Navy warship . Especially in recent years, China's newly commissioned coast guard ships have been equipped with 76mm naval guns and 30mm secondary guns, such as 10,000-ton coast guard ships, 3800-ton 818 Coast Guard Patrol ships, and 2800-ton 718B Coast Guard Patrol ships, etc. According to incomplete statistics, as of now, the 1,000-ton or above patrol ships equipped by the China Coast Guard has exceeded 170 (including 056 partially handed over), of which more than 70 patrol ships of 3,000-ton or above. In addition, the Navy also handed over 22 basic versions of the 056 light frigate to the Coast Guard, greatly enriching the strength of the Coast Guard troops.
The Coast Guard troops are also known as "China's Second Navy". One of the most important reasons for their award is that the Coast Guard troops have many new ships not only with naval guns, but also built with warship standards. Once there is a need during wartime, the Chinese Coast Guard's ocean-going patrol ship can be quickly converted into a "missile frigate" and can be supplemented with the navy to perform combat missions in a short period of time. Taking the 818 patrol ships and 718B patrol ships as examples, the two types of coast guard ships are equipped with 76mm main guns, 30mm semi-automatic guns, 12.7mm machine gun and high-power water cannons. In addition, the air/sea search radar and fire control radar on the ship are also military standards, and there is also a special place for the missile system to reserve space. Therefore, in a sense, the coast guard is the source of combat power and "energy" that the navy hides, and is the assistant that the navy cannot do without!
