11 In June 2019, the military and civilians of the Central Soviet Area successfully crushed the second "encirclement and suppression" of the Kuomintang army. But Chiang Kai-shek is unwilling to accept failure and is dispatching troops to prepare for a larger-scale "encirclement and suppression". In order to strengthen the strength of the Central Red Army and actively participate in the new anti-"encirclement and suppression" battle, the Military Commission of the Red 7th Army decided to lead its troops to the Central Soviet Area. Over the past few months, the Red 7th Army has gotten along well with the party, government, military and civilians of Hunan and Jiangxi Soviet Area in terms of life, work, and fighting, and has forged a deep revolutionary friendship. During this period, the party organization of the Hunan-Jiangxi revolutionary base area mobilized more than 700 young people to join the Red 7th Army. Now we are leaving, and everyone feels reluctant to leave. In order to help develop the Hunan-Jiangxi Soviet Area, the Military Commission of the Red 7th Army decided to leave behind a 100-person teaching team led by Comrade Yuan Renyuan and Lin Mao and a hundred wounded and sick people, and the Hunan-Jiangxi Military Region was established. After all this was arranged, our army drove to the sandy land of Gan County. One morning in late June, our team set out in the morning.
Local party, political and military leaders Zhang Qilong, Yuan Desheng, Gan Siqi, Li Tianzhu, Tan Yubao, and groups of people all went to the suburbs to see off. The iron flows on the roads and wilderness, and our army is moving non-stop along the areas of Suichuan, Wan'an, , Taihe, . The seedlings along the way are green and dust rolling. Although they marched tensely for several days and were sweating profusely, they could not suppress their inner excitement. Because everyone knows that the bright road ahead is the central revolutionary base , which I have longed for. The troops traveled day and night, and after a week of rapid march, they passed through Suichuan and arrived at Shadi Town . Sand is a small town next to Ganjiang . Crossing Ganjiang is the Central Soviet Area. There was no enemy situation nearby, so we rested in the sand for 3 days. At this time, the Military Commission of the Red 7th Army had a debate on the next step of action.
Comrades Zhang Yunyi and others firmly advocated crossing the Ganjiang River and rendezvous with the 1 and 3 legions, while others did not agree to crossing the Ganjiang River and advocated activities on , such as , Chongyi , etc. The two sides had a stalemate. Comrade Zhang Yunyi asked the military acting political commissar Comrade Xu Zhuo to convene a battalion-level cadre at an enlarged meeting of the Military Commission. After discussions at the meeting, most comrades advocated crossing the river and going to the Central Red Army. Just as the troops were preparing to cross the river, Comrade Gan Shoudao, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Hunan-Jiangxi Border Region, came back from the Central Revolutionary Base Area to ask for instructions and report to us, conveyed the instructions of the Central Red Army General Committee, and came to welcome us across the river on behalf of the Central Committee.
That night, Comrade Wang Shoudao extended cordial condolences to all the commanders and fighters of the Red 7th Army on behalf of the Party Central Committee at the meeting of cadres above the military company. He said: "The Party Central Committee sent me to welcome you to Hedong! Fight together to crush the enemy's invasion and liberate the whole of China!" July 11, 1931 was a sunny day. The green Ganjiang River flows eastward, the morning breeze blows, and the waves on the river surface are shining. More than 10 sailboats have been waiting there. The sailboat carried the Red Army and soldiers, shuttled through the river until the sun set, and our army all crossed the river and entered Liangkou.
13, we went from Liangkou to Bailuwei in Gan County and entered Xingguo County . As soon as I entered the Central Soviet Area, what caught my eye was a gratifying scene: in the fields, the farmers were working hard to farm, the orange ears of the crops were undulating in the wind, and from time to time, melodious mountain songs came. Teams of peasant Red Guards were heroic, practicing military and standing guard. When we entered Xingguo , thousands of people stood in the street with paper flags, beating drums and drums, holding paper flags and beating drums, and welcoming, setting off firecrackers and shouting slogans, all of them were happy; the whole city was decorated with lights and colorful colors, and there were large slogans everywhere, "Warmly welcome the Red Seventh Army from afar!" "Learn and pay tribute to the heroic Red Seventh Army!" "Share the enemy's 'encirclement' and consolidate the Central Soviet Area!" It is said that this is the first time such a grand welcome scene in Xingguo!
The next day, the Xingguo County Soviet Government held a grand welcome meeting and amusement meeting of 10,000 people, with unprecedented grand occasions. The troops were resting and recuperating in Xingguo. The party and government responsible person in the county gave us several reports on the situation and the situation in the Central Soviet Area.We also saw newspapers issued by the Central Soviet Area. We have made us understand the situation of the revolutionary struggle and understand the scope and situation of the entire Central Soviet Area. Everyone was deeply inspired and broadened their horizons. They felt that the Central Soviet Area was really amazing! What we particularly admire is that the cadres and masses in the Central Soviet Area have a high political awareness and understand many major political and military issues. In our contact with cadres and the masses, they were familiar with Comrade Mao Zedong's political propositions and military line. They talked well and introduced us to the battle situation of the first and second "encirclement and suppression" of the enemy in a colorful way. This shows that Comrade Mao Zedong's proposition has taken root in the hearts of the people of the Central Soviet Area.
Our army has been stationed in Xingguo for about a week. I heard that the main force of the Central Red Army was returning victoriously from Jianning, Fujian, 600 miles away. In order to meet with the Central Red Army, we moved to Qiaotouwei, Yudu County, the upper reaches of the Ganjiang River on July 21. The next day, the main force of the Central Red Army detoured thousands of miles from Fujian to the Yinkeng and Qiaotouwei areas of Yudu County. The Red 3 Legion led by Comrade Peng Dehuai entered Qiaotouwei. Our Red 7th Army and the Central Red Army met successfully. From then on, the Red 7th Army was incorporated into the battle sequence of the Red 3rd Legion and was under the command of the 3rd Legion, becoming part of the Central Red Army. Comrade Zhang Yunyi smiled on his face and encouraged everyone, "From now on, we have fought under the leadership of Comrade Mao Zedong, the General Political Commissar of the Central Red Army, and Comrade Zhu De, the Commander-in-Chief. In the future, we must welcome new combat tasks with a new attitude and make new contributions to the cause of the liberation of the Chinese people!"
For more than half a year, under the leadership of the Party, the Red 7th Army has broken the enemy's siege and blockade with fearless heroism and amazing perseverance, overcome all kinds of difficulties and obstacles, and fight a bloody road from the danger. He traveled to five provinces in Guangxi, Guizhou, Hunan, Guangdong and Jiangxi, with a journey of more than 7,000 miles, and finally completed the great historical mission of joining the Central Red Army! It can be said with shame that this is indeed a miracle on earth that shocks the world and makes ghosts cry! Due to the influence of the "left" line, the Red 7th Army suffered extremely heavy setbacks and losses. When the Red 7th Army set off from Hechi , it was magnificent, with 7,500 people. When they arrived in Jiangxi, there were only more than 1,300 people left. How many excellent commanders and heroes are stained with blood on the battlefield and are sleeping in the mountains and fields. When celebrating the Victory Conference, we miss our comrades who sacrificed their lives for the revolution and realize the extreme importance of the Party’s correct line to achieve revolutionary victory. The ups and downs are forging great ambitions, and the dangerous situations are forging talents. Although the Red 7th Army suffered serious losses during the long journey north, it was trained stronger and more mature in the difficult and dangerous war environment! At the same time, the revolutionary sparks were sown along the way, expanding the political influence of our party and our army, and shocking the enemy's reactionary rule!
"There are joys and sorrows in joining the army, who are you asking?" The northern expedition of the Red 7 army made me withstand a severe training and test. I will never regret it after all my hardships. It further prompted my world outlook to change, strengthened my revolutionary ambitions, and was unforgettable for my life. In order to commend this team from Zhuang Township and fought bravely after thousands of tempering, the Central Revolutionary Military Commission and the Soviet Government gave a special award to the Red 7th Army pennant with four golden words written on it: Fight for thousands of miles. In 1978, I wrote the poem "Transporting Thousand Miles", which recorded this magnificent journey of war:
