The research ship of Taiwan University "Xinhaiyan No. 1" named by Tsai Ing-wen recently carried out a scientific research mission in the southeastern waters of Hualien Port . It was interfered and harassed by Japanese official ships. The Taiwan "Coast Guard Administration" urgently sent a ship to help, and the three ships confronted each other for 10 hours. Afterwards, the DPP authorities did not say a word, which once again proved that they became soft-legged shrimps when they encountered Japan.
Large research ship "Xinhaiyan No. 1"
This matter was disclosed by Taiwan's China Times on October 3. According to reports, Taiwan's "Coast Guard Administration" received a notice at around 11 a.m. on September 29 that the "Xinhaiyan No. 1" operating 69 nautical miles southeast of Hualien Port was approached by an unknown ship, which was identified as a Japanese official ship.
"Coast Guard Administration" immediately sent the "Hualien Ship" outside Hualien Port to the location and deployed between the Japanese official ship and "Xinhaiyan No. 1". At 12 noon, the "Hualien Ship" broadcast to Japanese official ships in English and Japanese: "This is the exclusive economic waters of Taiwan, please do not interfere with our ship operations here." The Japanese official ship also immediately broadcasts and responds: "This is the exclusive economic waters of Japan, please do not conduct scientific research without consent."
"Hualian Ship" continues to guard "Xinhaiyan No. 1" for 10 hours. At 9:15 that night, "Shinkaiyan No. 1" left the sensitive waters first, and the Japanese official ship left with it. The "Hualien Ship" was confirmed to have disappeared from the radar screen until 10:30 pm.
Taiwan Court patrol "Hualian Ship" is blocking between "Xinhaiyan No. 1" and the Japanese official ship.
Such a big thing happened, but the DPP authorities did not raise any protests to the Japanese side. It should be said that the "Xinhaiyan No. 1" research ship of Taiwan University is also very famous. It has a total tonnage of 2,200 tons, a length of 66 meters, a width of 14.8 meters, and a depth of 7 meters. It can take 19 crew members and 28 researchers, adopt electric power propulsion, and has systems such as hydrological detection and seawater sampling. In July 2020, Tsai Ing-wen personally presided over the naming and launching ceremony at the Keelung Factory of Taiwan Shipping Company.
As the saying goes, "It depends on the owner when beating a dog." This move by Japan clearly does not give Tsai Ing-wen face. Zhang Jing, a researcher at the "Chinese Strategic Society", analyzed that on the day of the incident, the walrus in the sea area where "Xinhaiyan 1" was in good condition, and the distance of the ship could be at least 5 to 10 nautical miles. Moreover, during the maritime operation stage, the "Xinhaiyan 1" opened the ship seat notification system throughout the entire process. If the Japanese ship was just a simple verification of the target, it would not have to be so close. In other words, Japan Coast Security Bureau deliberately broke into Taiwan's near-shore waters with the goal of creating maritime law enforcement records so as to claim jurisdiction over the sea area through substantive law enforcement facts, and its intentions are quite sinister.
The DPP authorities were slapped in the face by Japan because of this. During the period of Ma Ying-jeou, he strongly protected fishing and advocated the rights and interests of the Diaoyu Islands. Japan also negotiated fishing rights with the Kuomintang authorities, etc., but when Tsai Ing-wen came to power, Japan could be said to have asked for it. Japan requires the DPP authorities to open up nuclear food. Even if the people on the island strongly oppose it, the DPP still forcibly opens it; Japan wants to discharge nuclear wastewater in the Pacific. The DPP not only doesn't even say a word, but also his representative to Japan Tse Changting also finds a "basis" for Japan...
This time, "Xinhaiyan No. 1" was harassed by the Japanese side. Some media on the island speculated that Japan recently sent additional ships to patrol the eastern waters of Taiwan. Taiwan's side has the so-called "Taiwan-Japan goodwill" and the Japanese side has the intention of "assistant defense", so it allows Japanese ships to approach Hualien and Suzhou and Australia, causing endless troubles in the future.
It can be said that Japan's actions not only confront Tsai Ing-wen, but also broke the illusion of "Taiwan-Japanese kindness". Just a few days ago, the Taiwan authorities sent former "Legislative President" Su Jiaquan, Wang Jinping and representative to Japan to Hsieh Changting to attend the state funeral of former Japanese Prime Minister Abe Shinzo . Someone else created the Abe commemorative bronze statue, and the "President of Supervision" Chen Ju unveiled the bronze statue. The next day, hundreds of people went to Taipei's "Japan Taiwan Exchange Association" to protest. In contrast, it further highlights the DPP authorities' unpopularity of the Japanese.
