Traveling to the mainland
Lin Yifu was born in 1952. His hometown is Yilan County, Taiwan, China, and his original name is Lin Zhengyi. My family was poor, so my mother pulled him up with her clothes for others, and she worked hard. Fortunately, Lin Zhengyi did not let down his mother's efforts and had excellent grades since childhood. He was admitted to Guoli Taiwan University at the age of 19.
After entering university, he showed an active participation in social movements.
In 1970, the United States announced that it would "return" Japan to Japan, which was entrusted after World War II , and then to this end, overseas and Taiwanese students were excited and launched a huge campaign to defend the Diaoyu Islands. Lin Zhengyi was the first to be one of the initiators of the Taiwan student movement.

Lin Zhengyi has loved reading history since he was a child. When he was in junior high school, he had read Li Dongfang 's " Detailed Chinese History Series " and also read Cai Dongfan 's " Popular Romance of Chinese Dynasty ".
In his 70-year-old speech, he recalled: "When I was young, I seemed aimless to dabble, which made me unconsciously realize that in the long history of the Chinese nation, whenever the country faces a life and death, there are always a kind-hearted man who is willing to destroy his family and save his country, sacrifice his life and blood, and sacrifice himself to save his country. Not long after, the news of Lin Zhengyi's "defection" caused a sensation in Taiwan.
He was pregnant with his wife Chen Yunying, who was 4-year-old son, heard in horror that her husband went to Xiamen while swimming. At this time, she suddenly remembered that her husband joked to her not long ago: "If I disappear one day, you must stay in the cold kiln for 18 years like Wang Baochuan ..."
Chen Yunying thought at that time that her husband was on the front line and saw artillery fire intersecting on both sides of the Taiwan Strait every day, and he would inevitably say such "unlucky" words. Unexpectedly, this was the "defection" that her husband had planned for a long time in his mind.
Fortunately, the National Government at that time did not hold the family accountable. Chen Yunying continued to be her teacher in school with her belly. After a few years, her husband had no news. Could it be that she really wanted to be "Wang Baochuan" and stayed in the cold kiln for 18 years?
Of course, Lin Zhengyi did not "abandon his wife and son", he just had a greater ideal to realize it. Four years later, when he calmed down, he contacted his wife, and at this time he had changed his name to Lin Yifu.

He finished his master's degree in economics at Peking University and was sent to host Theodore Schultz , who just won the Nobel Prize in Economics . The latter was very grateful for Lin Yifu's understanding and proposed to recommend him to go to University of Chicago to continue his further studies. It was precisely because of this opportunity that he played a key role in becoming a famous economist in the future.
Wait until he returned from his studies in the United States and brought back a full 30 boxes of Western economics works. More importantly, in 1994, he also broke the taboo and promoted Western Economics in the classroom in mainland China for the first time.
