Macheng is a county-level city under Hubei Province. It is managed by Huanggang City . It is located in the northeast of Hubei Province and at the junction of Hubei Province and Henan and Anhui Provinces. In modern history, this is one of the birthplaces of the revolution. In 1927, our party led the Huangma Uprising and fired the first shot of armed resistance to the right-wing of the Kuomintang in Hubei, Henan and Anhui.
Today we are talking about is from Macheng, Hubei. His name is Ding Xianguo, and he was formerly the deputy director of the General Logistics Department of the People's Liberation Army .
1909, Ding Xianguo was born in Dingjiafan Village, Chengmagang Town, Macheng City, Hubei Province. He was a poor peasant family. Due to his poor family background, Ding Xianguo was hungry since childhood. He rarely had a full meal and suffered a lot. In this case, the seeds of revolution were planted in his heart early.
At the age of 18, an armed peasant uprising broke out in Ding Xianguo's hometown. Ding Xianguo, who originally belonged to the village Red Guard, took up his weapons without hesitation and joined the uprising team. Soon afterwards, Ding Xianguo joined the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army and became a soldier. Of course, his biggest dream was to join our party, and this dream was soon realized.
11930, Ding Xianguo officially joined the Communist Party of China and became a glorious party member.
Under the rule of the Kuomintang reactionaries, "white terror" enveloped the whole country, and Chiang Kai-shek continued to send troops to encircle and suppress the revolutionary base areas. During this period, Ding Xianguo was mainly active in the Hubei, Henan and Anhui region, from the squad leader, to the platoon leader, then to the company commander, and then to the director of the regiment political department.
Ding Xianguo quickly grew into a grassroots officer, and participated in the battles of attacking Xinzhou City, Hubei Province, Shuangqiao Town, Xiaogan County, Tianshugang, Huang'an County, Henan Tofu Shop, and other battles, and participated in the Long March, with the Red Fourth Front Army.
During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Ding Xianguo was incorporated into the 129th Division of the Eighth Route Army and served as the director of the Political Department of the 769th Regiment of the 385th Brigade. During this period, Ding Xianguo participated in many battles such as Chengtou, Shanxi, Kunshan, Henan, the surprise attack on Yangmingbao and Shentouling ambush . Under the leadership of our party, he drove the Japanese invaders out of China.
During the War of Liberation, Ding Xianguo was affiliated with Shanxi, Hebei, Shandong and Henan Military Region , and served as deputy political commissar of the 37th Brigade of the 13th Column and political commissar of the 41st Brigade of the 14th Column. He witnessed the birth of the New China. After the founding of New China, Ding Xianguo was ordered to come to the Korean battlefield and participated in the organization of logistical support for the battles such as Shangganling , Jincheng, etc.
1955, Ding Xianguo was awarded the rank of major general and became the founding major general . He was then ordered to establish the Logistics Engineering Academy, which cultivated a large number of logistics talents for the New China.
1969, Ding Xianguo became Deputy Minister of the General Logistics Department of the People's Liberation Army .
Unexpectedly, two years later, the "September 13 Incident" was exposed, and the General Logistics Minister Qiu Huizuo was quarantined for investigation. As the deputy minister, Ding Xianguo was also suspected of being involved with Lin Biao, and was also quarantined for investigation, and was also removed from his post.
However, after all, Ding Xianguo made great achievements during the revolutionary war and made significant contributions to the founding of New China. In 11983, Ding Xianguo resigned as the official corps and recuperated.
In his later years, Ding Xianguo mainly lived in Chongqing. Although he was equipped with a chef, health doctor and driver, he didn't want any of them. Moreover, Ding Xianguo has always maintained the good habit of being thrifty and frugal. He often picked up garbage around his residence and donated all the money he received and his pension to children in poor mountainous areas.
01 November 11, 2001, Ding Xianguo died in Chongqing at the age of 93. When people cremated the body, they found three shrapnel remaining on their bodies.
