On October 25, Australian Finance Minister Chamos officially announced the highly anticipated federal budget for the 22-23 fiscal year in Canberra ! Among them, the immigration quota that everyone is more concerned about has been confirmed to increase from 160,000 to 195,000!
Immigration
In the federal budget for 2022-23, the Labor government announced a series of policies to promote Australian immigration programs, including:
The planning level of immigration programs that everyone is most concerned about has increased from 160,000 set by the previous Morrison government to 195,000. Among them, 142,400 places will be allocated to skilled immigration, an increase of 32,500 compared to the previous fiscal year. Another 52,500 quotas will be allocated to family immigration, and the remaining 100 quotas will use other special immigration channels. From the quota, it can be seen that the Labor government attaches more importance to independent skilled immigration, and the number of quotas has been greatly increased!
The immigration program will pay close attention to the skilled immigration category. From 2022-23, the program is expected to have a positive impact of A$448 million on the budget.
The backlog of visa application review by the Immigration Bureau was serious. In order to accelerate the efficiency of visa review, it was announced at the Employment and Skills Summit that an additional 36.1 million yuan investment will be added within two years, which will help the Ministry of the Interior to recruit another 500 employees to improve visa processing efficiency.
In the two years of 2022-23, an additional AUD 6.2 million will be allocated for outward exhibitions and exchanges, including an international marketing event to promote immigration to Australia.
As part of the Albanian government’s plan to establish a stronger Pacific Family Program, the Pacific Participation Visa (PEV) will be launched in July next year to promote permanent immigration to Australia in the Pacific region.
A voting process will be conducted every year to provide 3,000 places for qualified immigrants from Pacific countries and East Timor . The PEV quota will not include the permanent immigration program quota.
To solve the problem of Australia's lack of labor, student visa holders can continue to work more than 40 hours every two weeks until June 30, 2023.
The Labor government fulfills its commitment to provide an additional $20 million in AUD for the Adult Immigration English Program (AMEP) within four years starting from 2022-23 to support flexible learning for individual learners.
Labor Party is committed to supporting immigrants to achieve a certain level of English so that they can fully participate in Australia's social and economic activities.
This fiscal year Immigration will give priority to overseas independent skilled immigration and New Zealand visa applications.

To make up for the long-term shortage of skills, the Labor Party announced subsidies for key skill professions in colleges. In addition, the government will also provide 180,000 free TAFE and vocational education quotas starting from 2023.
The new budget allocates 20,000 additional government-subsidized university degree places to areas with critical skills shortages.
