In this article, an Australian immigration lawyer will tell you how the Australian Immigration Agency plans to further simplify the processing of low-risk applications for all projects.
Australia Immigration Bureau said that the slow trial speed from the end of 2021 to the beginning of 2022 was caused by some employees' leave and was further exacerbated by employees' infection with the new coronavirus. However, at present, the trial cycle of various visas is returning to a more normal time range.
According to Ministerial Direction 93, certain applications must be prioritized by the Australian Immigration Agency.
Employer Guarantee Category
The application categories currently receiving the highest priority include the Priority Immigration Skills Careers List (PMSOL), Global Talent Employer Guarantee Agreement (GTES), and agriculture and key industries, which remain the focus of the temporary skills shortage (TSS) program delivery areas.
However, the expected time range for the submitted application depends on a range of factors, including but not limited to current travel restrictions, changes in the number of applications, complexity of the case and incomplete applications.
General skilled immigration
Australian government still attaches importance to industries or skills for the new coronavirus disease and economic recovery. Therefore, most resources are directed to priority work, which has affected some visa processing time.
The department is currently processing applications in accordance with Direction No. 92 – Order of consideration – certain skilled migration visas (the Direction).
The following list will show the priority nomination and order of trial for this indication. If the applicant has a lower priority under this indication, the processing time will naturally exceed the average processing time.

Labor Agreement
Australia Immigration Bureau stated that the priority processing rating of this category will be different from other nominations and visa applications. Due to the low application volume of labor agreements, no global processing timeline for this agreement has been announced, however:
- In June 2021, Immigration, Citizen, Immigration Services and Multicultural Affairs (Immigration, Citizenship, Migrant Services and Multicultural Affairs (Immigration, Citizenship, Migrant Services and Multicultural) Affairs) Minister agreed to simplify measures to improve the processing time required for labor agreements;
- According to preliminary results from July 1, 2021 to September 30, 2021, the average weekly completion rate increased by 59% compared with the same period in 2020-21;
- at the same period, in the final completion of all labor agreement applications:
---27% of the application time is less than three months,
---23% of the application time is between three and six months, and
---50% of the application time is six months or more
(in comparison, the comparison periods in 2020-21 were 32%, 30% and 38% respectively).
