A statement from the Malta Tourism Board read: "From 25 July 2022, people traveling to Malta without proof of vaccination or recovery will not need to show a negative PCR/rapid test before arriving in Malta."

The ECDC further explained that 93.9% of Malta’s entire adult population has completed primary vaccination, and a further 80.5% of the population has received their first booster shot. While Malta is expected to lift its entry rules in two weeks, most EU/ Schengen area countries have already done so.

All travelers, regardless of their country of origin, can enter the above countries even without proof of vaccination, recovery or testing. Previously, the EU approved a €12 million aid measure for Malta to support Malta International Airport. The European Commission said in announcing its approval of the measure that it aims to compensate operators for losses suffered due to the new coronavirus epidemic and travel restrictions between March 21 and June 30.
