Zaparov said that due to the new coronavirus pandemic, the national budget has suffered a lot. He also pointed out other problems.
He emphasized: "A catastrophic situation has occurred in the energy sector. The debt here is 137 billion soms (approximately $1.6 billion). Of course, the road to this situation is accompanied by many difficulties. But I firmly believe that, Together with the people and uniting the efforts of all of us, we will get rid of this situation."
Kyrgyzstan held presidential elections on January 10 and held a referendum on the national government. The turnout rate was less than 40%. According to preliminary statistics, in the presidential election, Zaparov took the lead with 79.2% of the votes. In addition, more than 80% of voters in Kyrgyzstan support a presidential system rather than a parliamentary system.
