
According to the Uzbekistan President’s News Center, Uzbekistan President Mirziyoev recently attended the introduction meeting of the “Bukhara-Urgenchi-Shiva” railway electrification project. The project cost $445 million. Within the framework of the project, 465 kilometers of railway tracks from Bukhara to Shiva will be electrified and stations, substations and other facilities will be built.
By then, the train will speed up significantly - the maximum speed will reach 250 kilometers per hour. Therefore, the trip time from Tashkent to Urgenchi will be shortened from 14 hours to 6 hours, and the trip time from Bukhara to Shiva will be shortened from 8 hours to 3 hours.
freight volume will increase to 11 million tons per year, and passenger volume will increase to 2.3 million passengers. Trains that use electric towing will save 18,000 tons of diesel each year.
Mirziyoev instructed the heads of Bukhara and Hualazimo Prefectures to organize services along the way in the areas where the express train passes.
Mirziyoev said: "Where the railway goes, culture goes, life goes wherever it goes. Therefore, just like along the highway, the number of business and service points in the station needs to be increased. Another task is to plant trees and shrubs that are suitable for desert climate along the railway. This will have a positive impact on the ecology of the region and make the scenery along the way more beautiful."
In addition,Mirziyoev instructed that the railway electrification project to Nukus will be launched while carrying out the current project. By then, the itinerary between Tashkent and Nukus will be shortened from 16 hours to 7 hours.
