According to the "New York Times ", the US police said that in the early morning of October 28 local time, U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's husband Paul Pelosi was attacked. The 42-year-old suspect Depapp entered the Pelosi residence in San Francisco through the back door and violently attacked Paul .

San Francisco police chief Scott said that Paul called the police in the bathroom after Depapp invaded. When the police arrived at the scene, Paul and Depapp were competing for the hammer. Police ordered them to put down their hammers, and Depapp took the opportunity to take them away and attacked Paul violently. Depapp was arrested on the spot.
Scott said this was not a random incident and the suspect's motivation for launching the attack was still under investigation. Paul was later taken to Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, where he underwent surgery for skull fracture and serious injuries to his right arm and hand.
