The four countries agreed to jointly formulate a sports plan and resume hosting the sports meetings within the next two years. The host country and date will be determined in the future.
Since 2015, the chairman of the Asian Olympic Council Central Asia region has been held by Kazakhstan. The Asian Olympic Council has seven countries in the region: Afghanistan , Kazakhstan, Iran , Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan .
Central Asian Games were held under the sponsorship of International Olympic Committee . The first Central Asian Games was held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan in September 1995. Thereafter, it was held in Almaty, Kazakhstan in 1997, in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan in 1999, and in 2001, the Games originally scheduled to be held in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, was cancelled due to the situation in neighboring Afghanistan, and in 2003, it was held in , Dushanbe, Tajikistan in .
