On October 1, the water level of the reservoir reached 155.30 meters, and the corresponding water storage capacity was 3.5793 billion cubic meters, setting a new record of water storage since the construction of the Miyun Reservoir. "As the capital's combat water source, this is an important historical moment. Therefore, on October 7 this year, we also set up a new water level monument. The original 153.98-meter highest water level monument was moved to the Miyun Reservoir Exhibition Hall to be preserved as important historical data."
For Zhou Shangti, the water storage capacity of Miyun Reservoir has hit historical highs and high water level operation has become the norm, which also means that his work faces new challenges. According to Zhou Shangti, this year, the Miyun Reservoir Management Office has established a dynamic adjustment mechanism for safety monitoring of high water levels, divided the flood season and non-flood season. According to different characteristics of water levels such as flood limit water level, historical highest water level, and designed water level, dynamic adjustment of work situation monitoring will be implemented, further optimize and refine the frequency, content and requirements of project inspection and work situation monitoring and analysis, and streamline the inspection, analysis, reporting and disposal procedures. This not only meets the needs of daily management, but also ensures the safety of high water level operation of reservoir projects.

This year, the Miyun Reservoir Management Office has also steadily promoted the research and demonstration projects of key technologies for reservoir dam safety monitoring, early warning and health diagnosis on the basis of the 2021 Zoumazhuang sub-dam pilot, and actively introduced new safety monitoring technologies and new means of industrial analysis such as Beidou remote sensing, micro-core piles, and made every effort to improve technical support and guarantee capabilities. "In the near future, Miyun Reservoir will form a reservoir supervision system that integrates space, earth and water: in space, satellites can be used to combine remote sensing, micro-core piles and other technologies to monitor remotely; at low altitude, drones can be used to take aerial photos; on the ground, monitoring instruments such as seepage, deformation, and cracks are arranged; on the water surface, unmanned ship sonar measures the terrain and silt of the reservoir area, and underwater robots can see the appearance of dam slopes and tunnels.
