State regulators are investigating videos of four day care workers terrorizing children at a facility in a non-established community in northeastern Mississippi, USA. Video on
Facebook shows a day care worker at the Lil' Blessings Child Care and Learning Center in Hamilton, wearing a Halloween mask, yelling at children who have not "cleaned" or "performed well."
can be seen and heard kids crying and sometimes fled from employees wearing masks, while another employee directs which kids are performing well or bad. Employees wearing masks sometimes scream a few inches away from their child’s face.
According to the Northeast Mississippi Daily Daily, Sheila Sanders, who has owned the business for the past 20 years, said she didn't know the videos until Wednesday afternoon. One video was shot in September and the other was shot on Tuesday, said
Sanders. "No one came out to tell me that this happened in September," she said.
She said that the behaviors her former employees showed in the video were intolerable. "I contacted my license and she's already involved," said
Sanders. "The people who did these acts are no longer with us. They were fired. I wasn't here at the time and didn't know they were doing it. I don't forgive this, nor did I forgive. I just want to say it's resolved."
Mississippi Department of Health and the Monroe County Sheriff's Office are investigating. Liz Sharlot, director of communications at the state health department, confirmed the investigation.
On Thursday morning, parents responded to the video while sending their children to care, expressing their support for the facility.
"I know 100% that the lady boss and director Sheila didn't know about this, and as soon as she found out, all parties were fired immediately," said Kimberly Smith, whose children could be seen in one of the videos. "It's been doing witch hunting for her and other people who are still here, it really needs to stop. Is it really scary? Sure. But if this nursery is closed and other nursery is still here is villainized, absolutely not."
