Vincent-Petit's workshop is located in Troyes and is awarded the award for cleaning and restoration of eight high bay stained glass windows.
Vincent-Petit told ABC News: "[Notre Dame] represents all the French and European medieval cultures of the Middle Ages, and how all these European countries finally built around spiritual impulses," adding that "it is very positive to be able to participate in the reconstruction."
After several months of preparation, including lead purification, documentation and repair testing caused by fires-repair workers are now beginning the delicate and arduous cleaning and repair process.
But caring for the stained glass windows of Notre Dame is not just a French thing, as the Cologne Cathedral workshop from Germany has joined the work, repairing the stained glass windows of the other four high bays.
Another project of this work is the repair of 22 of the 25 paintings removed from the cathedral fire.
Global contributions for the project are estimated to be approximately 2,700,000 euros (approximately US$2,703,000), and the restoration is carried out by 50 experts under the project management of the Department of Cultural Affairs of Ile-de-France (DRAC).
DRACIle-Marie Préaux, a conservationist in the area of historic monuments, told ABC News that "the damage to these paintings is not required to be repaired and related to the fire in Notre Dame. These canvases were repaired because they are old. Their restoration dates back decades."
Since October 2021, experts have been working at a secret location near Paris to repair 17th and 18th century works by masters such as French painters Charles Le Brun and Jacques Blanchard and Italian painter Guido Reni, sometimes recreating colors that no longer exist with the help of period documents.
Notre Dame is currently scheduled to reopen in 2024, with five years left before the devastating fires destroying the upper part of Notre Dame and its surrounding areas.
