Tokayev pointed out in his speech that Kazakhstan regards the BRICS countries as an influential organization and believes that the organization is one of the main driving forces of global economic growth and is willing to develop cooperation with the BRICS countries.

Tokayev emphasized that Kazakhstan’s trade volume with BRICS member states in 2021 will exceed US$45 billion.

When talking about global development, Tokayev pointed out that the world today is facing unprecedented geopolitical and economic instability.

"The international food security situation has become increasingly complex in recent months. If food supply continues to be interrupted, millions of lives may be threatened. Currently three-quarters of the world's food comes from BRICS countries, and its member countries' agriculture Production accounts for half of ’s GDP2,” Tokayev said.

Tokayev pointed out that the rapid growth of global inflation is another hot issue that needs to be solved.

He said that the deteriorating financial situation will not only affect highly indebted countries, businesses and households, but will also disrupt global supply chains.

" As the 'middle market' between East and West, South and North, Kazakhstan has the ability to provide its own help. In the long term, it is necessary for us to maintain an open, fair, harmonious and sustainable global economy . At the same time, I see great potential in the 'BRICS+' and 'Belt and Road' initiatives and the Greater Eurasian Partnership, which will open the way to a new era of growth and connectivity," Tokayev said.

Tokayev also emphasized the importance of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and welcomed the efforts of United Nations Secretary-General Guterres to promote the implementation of the United Nations 2030 Agenda.

In this regard, the President of Kazakhstan noted that BRICS+ can help bridge the North-South gap and reduce development inequality.

In terms of specific measures to achieve the 2030 goals, Tokayev reiterated the importance of regional cooperation .

"We will continue to promote the concept of opening a United Nations center in Almaty to promote sustainable development in Central Asia and Afghanistan . We need to address the growing threats to water, energy and food security in the region." He explain.

At the end of his speech, Tokayev said that any crisis has both threats and opportunities.

"Once again we must adhere to the moral principle of putting the interests of the people above all else. I hope that the 'BRICS+' platform will make its due contribution to this wonderful cause. Kazakhstan is fully ready to put its national interests with the global Commitment to coordination,” President Tokayev said.

It is reported that the 14th BRICS Leaders’ Global Development High-Level Dialogue held online via video had the theme of “Building High-Quality Partnerships and Jointly Creating a New Era of Global Development”.
