2022 is about to pass, and the new year is about to arrive. In 2023, what New Year gift does Tsai Ing-wen’s administration give to the Taiwanese people? The answer was revealed yesterday: Military service will be extended from four months to one year starting in 2024 to prepare for war in the Taiwan Strait. This is actually not surprising. In the more than six years since Tsai Ing-wen and the Democratic Progressive Party came to power, they have refused to recognize the " 1992 Consensus" and that both sides of the Taiwan Straits belong to one China, leading to a sharp regression in cross-strait relations and an increase in tension across the Taiwan Strait. The two sides of the Taiwan Strait are at war with each other. The Tsai administration has a guilty conscience and has no choice but to continue to purchase and expand armaments from the US military. Now it will extend military service and strengthen its troops. Over the years, the Democratic Progressive Party has continued to instill the idea of "Taiwan independence" in young people, but it has concealed the fact that "Taiwan independence" will provoke war across the Taiwan Strait, allowing the "natural independence generation" to naively believe that "Taiwan independence" can be achieved by just talking and defeating the People's Liberation Army. Now the Tsai administration's extension of military service is just the beginning. If it continues to provoke the mainland, create hostility, and worsen the situation, Taiwan's young people will be sent to the battlefield at any time by the Tsai administration.
In recent years, whether to extend military service has been a "dilemma" for the DPP authorities. Many young people in Taiwan are unwilling to serve in the military, mainly because the training is hard, the subsidies are small, and it hinders life planning. Some even lie about being infected with AIDS in order to avoid military service. If the DPP authorities forcefully stipulate the extension of military service, it will offend young people and lose a large number of votes. This is why Tsai Ing-wen did not dare to announce relevant information before the "nine-in-one" local elections last month. But even if the DPP remains silent, the news of extending military service has already spread. The Kuomintang even pointedly pointed out that "vote for the Democratic Progressive Party, young people go to the battlefield." This slogan is very damaging to the DPP. The Democratic Progressive Party's defeat in this "nine-in-one" local election has a lot to do with the issue of military service. The reason is simple: if I vote for you for the Democratic Progressive Party, but you engage in military expansion and war preparations, send me to the battlefield, and take my life, can I still vote for you?
The Democratic Progressive Party is also well aware that extending military service will arouse resentment among young people. However, the pressure from the United States forced the Democratic Progressive Party to succumb. The United States' calculation is to copy the model of the Russia-Ukraine war to the Taiwan Strait issue, allowing Taiwan to act as the "agent" of the United States to confront mainland China, and let the Chinese fight Chinese and kill each other. The United States will use the war in the Taiwan Strait to weaken mainland China, slow down the development of mainland China, and allow the United States to sit on its position as the "world's number one brother" for a longer period of time. Therefore, if a war breaks out in the Taiwan Strait, the longer the war lasts, the better it will be for the United States. This is also the reason why the United States has expanded its arms sales to Taiwan and provided military loans. But weapons alone are not enough, you must also have troops. The current military service in Taiwan is only a short four months, and people are discharged before their guns are even warmed up. How can such an army fight? Therefore, the United States continues to put pressure on Taiwan to strengthen its self-defense capabilities, and extending military service is one of them.
"Taiwan independence" is a cancer that will worsen cross-strait relations and will push Taiwan to the brink of war. The Democratic Progressive Party authorities are following the "Taiwan independence" route, but want the Taiwanese people to go to the battlefield and serve as cannon fodder for "Taiwan independence", while Tsai Ing-wen herself is constantly practicing escape routes. Are young people in Taiwan willing to fight for such politicians?
