Let me talk to you today: TSMC officially responded to Huawei! Is this full confidence really beneficial to TSMC because of the pre-sale and out-of-sale of iPhone 12?

Although Apple did not release the new iPhone 12 at the autumn launch conference in September, overall, it did not make us wait too long. On October 14, the iPhone 12 officially met everyone. It has been regarded as a disgrace before, but what was unexpected was that after the release of iPhone 12, it still attracted a lot of attention.

Since the release of Apple's new phone, the complaints about iPhone 12 have not stopped. Cook did not mention the battery life that Chinese people care about at the press conference, and it was even reported that the battery capacity was reduced again. There is no further description of the A14 processor Cook, and there is no mention of how much performance improvement is.

Also, Apple has canceled free headphones and charging heads under the excuse of "environmental protection". To sum up all the shortcomings, it always makes people feel that this time, the iPhone 6 12 lacks some sincerity, and the outside world is not optimistic about the sales of iPhone 12.

However, the final result was beyond the expectations of many people. On October 16, the first batch of pre-sales of iPhones began, and major platforms quickly sold out. It is reported that the number of reservations for one platform on a day has reached 1.5 million. If the data from the official website and other platforms are added, the number of reservations will definitely be shocking.

It is obvious that this is a blind worship of the "strong". Apple's marketing strategy is undoubtedly successful. There is also this impression in the minds of Chinese people. As long as it is an iPhone produced by Apple, it is good. No matter what shortcomings are circulated in the outside world, many people can accept it.

In such a general environment, the United States’ attitude towards Huawei is compared with the attitude of Chinese people towards Apple, which is easy to produce negative emotions. Is the iPhone 12 really that "scent"? The crazy hot sales of iPhone 12 will further compress the domestic mobile phone market and will also dampen their confidence in entering the high-end smartphone field, which is extremely unfavorable for us.

on the surface seems to have lost everything, but TSMC has become the biggest winner. The hot sales of iPhone 12 can also ensure the continuous output of TSMC's 5nm production line. Although it has lost Huawei, it has now clearly stated that there is no plan to provide chips to Huawei in the fourth quarter. As long as TSMC serves Apple wholeheartedly, it can also make up for the certain losses caused by the lack of Huawei orders to a certain extent.

TSMC also publicly responded to this. Under the relevant restrictions, all companies that cooperate with Huawei's 5G and mobile phone businesses have been restricted from their cooperation with Huawei. Therefore, TSMC also stopped its chip supply to Huawei after September 15.

Although Huawei is TSMC's second largest customer, TSMC President Wei Zhejia has made it clear that there is no plan to continue supplying Huawei in the fourth quarter, and without obtaining relevant authorizations, the cooperation between TSMC and Huawei will also become history.

Where does TSMC's firm attitude come from? It is obviously from the support of Chinese people for iPhone 12. As we all know, only TSMC can manufacture the 5nm chips required for iPhone 12. The sales of iPhone 12 have been guaranteed to a certain extent, which means TSMC will have a steady stream of orders, and this is the source of TSMC's confidence.

If nothing unexpected happens, Apple's chip orders will definitely be handed over to TSMC for production. Apple's large number of orders can already meet TSMC's production capacity. But TSMC still needs to consider one issue. Currently, what Apple needs are high-end chips, and the demand for mid- and low-end chips is very small, and this part of the production capacity still needs to be compensated by other customers.

. As TSMC's second largest customer, Huawei was able to meet the needs of high-end chips and mid- and low-end chips at the same time, and the demand was very large. After losing Huawei, it is basically impossible to find similar customers. Therefore, losing Huawei is inevitable to the losses caused to TSMC.

So TSMC's source of confidence cannot fundamentally solve the problem. After all, most of TSMC's revenue comes from the mid- and low-end markets. In one sentence, it is: "TSMC thinks things too simple, Huawei is not so easy to be defeated, and Apple is not as powerful as it imagines." What do you think about this?
