On March 9, the reporter learned from the official website of the Shenzhen Municipal Planning and Natural Resources Bureau that the Baihua Hakka Cultural Center Park project issued a public notice on the use of forest land. This means that the park with Hakka culture as its theme has entered the stage of accelerated construction.

Baihua Hakka Cultural Center Park is located on the east side of Fumin Road in Guangming Street, Guangming District, Shenzhen, and the north side of Baihua Avenue. The land area is 190,196.30 square meters. This project belongs to a "park" and is located within the basic ecological control line of Shenzhen. The project invested about 80 million yuan and started construction in December 2020 and is expected to be completed by December 2021.

This project allows community residents to effectively enhance the cohesion, affinity and cultural confidence of Hakka villagers by inheriting and promoting Hakka culture, while allowing more people to understand the diversity and richness of Chinese culture. It is understood that although the development history of Shenzhen Special Economic Zone is only more than 40 years, it has 7,000 years of history of human activities, 2,000 years of history of marine civilization, 1,700 years of history of urban construction, 600 years of coastal defense, and more than 300 years of history of Hakka immigration.

In the 23rd year of the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty, the Qing court accepted the Governor Wang Lai Ren's advice and ordered the "relocation of the sea to restore the boundary." A large number of Hakka immigrants responded to the call and came from the mountains to the coastal Shenzhen, backing the mountains and facing the sea, adapting to local conditions, actively engaged in land reclamation, fishing, breeding, and commercial trade. At the same time, they established education, gradually anti-"climbing" as the "main", becoming the most populous ethnic group in the local area. In just a few decades, hundreds of Hakka walled houses were built, creating a century-long commercial economy and farming culture. Hakka walled houses, Hakka terrace houses, and Hakka earthen houses are the three classic styles of Hakka houses. The famous Shenzhen Hakka houses such as the "Hehu New House" in Luoruihe Village, Longgang Town and the "Dawanshiju" in Dawan Village, Pingshan Town have witnessed the historical imprint and brilliant achievements of the hard-working business of the Hakka people in Shenzhen.
