Zhitong Finance APP learned that on October 14, TSMC (TSM.US) released its financial report for the third quarter of 2021. According to the financial report, TSMC's net revenue in the third quarter was NT$414.671 billion, compared with NT$356.426 billion in the same period last year, an increase of 16.3% year-on-year and 11.4% month-on-month.
Q3 net profit was NT$156.259 billion, compared with NT$137.31 billion in the same period last year, an increase of 13.8% year-on-year and 16.3% month-on-month.
Q3 diluted earnings per share was NT$6.03, compared with NT$5.30 in the same period last year, an increase of 13.8% year-on-year and 16.3% month-on-month.
Q3 gross profit margin was 51.3%, compared with 50% in the previous quarter; operating profit margin was 41.2%, compared with 39.1% in the previous quarter; net profit margin was 37.7%, compared with 36.1% in the previous quarter.
Among them, according to process, 5-nanometer wafer revenue in the third quarter accounted for 18% of the total wafer revenue, the same as in the previous quarter; 7-nanometer accounts for 34%, compared with 31% in the previous quarter. The revenue share of advanced processes (7 nanometers and above) reached 52% of the total wafer revenue in the third quarter.
divided by platform, the smartphone platform accounts for 44% of revenue, up 2 percentage points month-on-month; the high-performance computing (HPC) platform accounts for 37% of revenue, down 2 percentage points month-on-month; the automobile platform accounts for 4% of revenue, up 2 percentage points month-on-month.
Looking ahead, TSMC expects revenue in the fourth quarter to be between US$15.4-15.7 billion, gross profit margin between 51% and 53%, and operating profit margin between 39% and 41%.
