It is reported that Dresden is the capital of Saxony, Germany, and has the largest semiconductor factory group in Europe. The wafer foundry company Global Foundries), automotive chip company Infineon (Infineon ), and the automobile parts manufacturer Bosch (Bosch), etc. all set up factories locally and form a peer guild called Silicon Saxony.
In addition, Saxon also has five automobile and engine factories from brands such as Volkswagen, BMW and Porsche .

According to foreign media reports, the German Ministry of Economic Affairs did not comment on TSMC's factory establishment, but emphasized that it is willing to provide subsidies to encourage semiconductor operators to set up factories in Germany. A spokesperson said that the German government's goal is to "enhance the R&D capabilities and production capacity of Germany and EU , and create favorable conditions for diversification of the supply chain."
As early as last year when TSMC evaluated the establishment of a factory in Germany, Saxony Silicon Valley CEO Besenberg said that Saxony Silicon Valley is one of the five largest semiconductor clusters in the world and has good investment advantages.
According to previous relevant reports, in order to build a semiconductor supply chain, both the EU and the German governments hope to introduce TSMC. TSMC's customers Infineon and Dutch semiconductor manufacturer NXP (NXP) are also happy to build factories in Europe, and the most likely location is Dresden .
