In the 2023 world university rankings, there are 95 mainland Chinese universities on the list, ranking fourth in the world, second only to the United States, Japan and the United Kingdom.

(Caijian October 12, 2022) The British education magazine Times Higher Education (THE) has released the latest world university rankings. THE targeted 1,799 universities in 104 countries and regions, and conducted a comprehensive assessment and ranking of five fields including research content and internationality.

In the 2023 world university rankings, there are 95 mainland Chinese universities on the list, ranking fourth in the world, second only to the United States (177), Japan (117) and the United Kingdom (103).

The top ten are monopolized by universities in the UK and the United States, among which Oxford University in the UK topped the list for the seventh consecutive year. The highest ranking among Asian universities is Tsinghua University in China. Then there are Peking University in China and National University of Singapore , 17th and 19th digits respectively.

There are 7 universities in mainland China that have entered the top 100 universities in the world. Compared with the increase of 6 universities last year, a total of 11 universities have entered the top 200 in the world. Nanjing University ranked among the top 100 universities in the world for the first time, ranking 95th. Fudan University (51st place) and Shanghai Jiaotong University (52nd place) both rose, further approaching the top 50 in the world.
